Where did you move to? What kind of searching did you do before moving? I’m about at my breaking point, but 3 kids with friends in school is making it difficult. Wife works from home, so she can go anywhere. I should be able to find a job as well, but just don’t know where to even think about moving. My kids are social and play sports recreationally, so I’d like to be able to keep doing that. But I need to get out of here. I never thought I’d leave because of how much I love LSU, but at some point safety and quality of life have to trump that. Anyway, just curious what places people have moved to.

Recently moved to the Houston suburbs and really love it. Was in Birmingham for a couple of years, and would have loved to settle there but wanted to live near immediate family.

Left BR over 3 years ago and don’t plan on returning. If it weren’t for LSU games, I don’t think I’d ever step foot in that city again.

West of Beaumont but East of Baytown and you’ll be in God’s county.

I’m honestly not trying to be a jerk, but I’ve seen people say they stay around because they love LSU — I find it highly bizarre. Just seems like this should not be a reason to stay in BR.

They’ll make new friends. Save the tuition money by moving somewhere with decent schools

We started in Houston bc it was so close to home, easy drive back, lots of LSU fans and Louisiana people, in general. We later moved to North Dallas area for work and schools to raise a family. That was a pretty big adjustment as there were far fewer Louisiana people here then and it was too far to drive home for every big LSU game. We are happy here now and are surrounded by friends and family who moved here later, along with making our own friends within the community. We used to go home for several games a year but it’s not worth the hassle anymore, especially with kids schedule. We do make a neutral game and a road game every year. It’s kind of fun to meet up with old friends at games outside of Baton Rouge. We don’t miss living there at all.

Just don’t come to Ascension. We don’t need anymore people.

The majority of interesting and cordial people I’ve met after college have been military kids or kids that lived in multiple cities growing up.

They’re some of the most compelling, well-rounded and self-starters you’ll ever meet.
