Do other major stadiums have service in stadium? I suspect that is one of the reasons why many people leave early.

Ohio State does. People need to understand that providing internet to 100K plus fans isn’t impossible to do but it’s not easy and very fricking expensive.

I’m good friends with one of the senior Verizon engineers that works LSU games. Basically the LSU Campus is the largest cell site with more backhaul fiber than any other place in America on game days. It’s still not enough.

A lot of bigger and updated NFL stadiums have great wifi or are close enough to towers that allow cell signal.

College stadiums have a lot of catching up to do

They need to revoke the season tickets for every seat on both the east and west side lower bowl and sell them cheap to all blue collar die hard fans 35 and younger.

I’m torn on this. I want my phone to work to call people if needed, but I don’t mind not having internet. It keeps me engaged in the game.

Although, in todays world you need internet capability to keep people coming.

Largest NFL stadium seats 82,000 which is obviously significantly less than most major college stadiums.

Why do you need WiFi while you’re in a stadium? You’re there to watch a game not be on your phone. You’ll be just fine putting phone down for a few hours.

I didn’t meant bigger than college stadiums. I meant bigger within the NFL

When those new stadiums are built they take current technology into account. The majority of the lower bowl in TS was built almost 100 years ago. A lot of drilling through a lot of concrete and rebar to run cables. I bet it would cost $15-$20 million to do it.

That’s great. But when I’m going to attend an event I’m there to watch that event not browse the internet. So whether there’s 5g or not shouldn’t really matter. ESP since you paid money to be there.

I don’t really care about having service inside the stadium, but it sucks arse when you’re trying to find people tailgating and there’s no cell service. Although I will admit this is a lot better today than it was ~10 years ago.

It depends on your carrier. WiFi and cell service are completely different. I know my company is spending @$15M network upgrades at Tiger Stadium. The WiFi is managed by the Athletic Department normally and is not tied to a cellular provider. The stadium WiFi is normally not even tied to the regular school WiFi.

No, bozo. They need to track which seats are consistently empty over a 3 year period, revoke those, and sell them based on TAF points.
