There is a notable negative trend for teams with back to back road games.

Teams do not usually win the second game in back to back road games.

Mississippi State is coming off very late game last Saturday night early Sunday morning versus Arizona and then they travel to Tiger Stadium this Saturday night versus LSU for back to back road games.

As noted by Carter in his Power Hour video the last team to win back to back road games in the SEC was the 2019 LSU National Championship team that first beat Alabama on the road then had to play Ole Miss on the road the next Saturday night for their WORST defensive performance of the year (remember John Rhys Plumlee who ran all over LSU that night?).

The trend in the stats that Carter notes is the second game in a back to back road series indicate that it is the defense that suffers the most.

Just pointing out his little tidbit...thought some of you might find it interesting.

MSU should have played Duquesne last week instead

The defensive effort by LSU vs Alabama was pretty awful too. Somehow Aranda straightened up his defense after Ole Miss; the team played stellar defense in blowout wins over Arky, A&M, Georgia, and Oklahoma, and in the championship game as well.

What about when the 1st road game SEC HC bitches about returning to campus at 10 AM 2X during his presser and gives his boys some nap time??

IDK.

The point is, if State wins this game they are breaking a common losing trend on the second game of back to back road games.

On a separate note, and I did not watch the game, apparently Arizona has a very mobile QB and the State defense had trouble with him. He is also not that great of a passer. I know the transitive property does not apply in CFB so take it for what it's worth.

that’s surprising. How few times do SEC teams play back to back road games? I’m guessing the shortened seasons with Covid May have had some effect

I just checked and maybe I misread but it looks like the AZ QB had negative rushing yards

I love how Bama was on God mode in 2020... who did win back-to-back road games @LSU (12/5) @Arkansas (12/12) but history will forever write them off as a covid year team lmao. Glad Carter didn't include that meaningless season in his equation.
