Ya like it? Would you buy again or go with diesel? Looking to upgrade the F-150 in the future to haul a fif wheel.

A lot of people love them but I’m not buying a 3/4 gasser.

Don’t know about the Ford 7.3 but I really like the new GM 6.6 gasser in my Silverado 2500. I can get 18 on interstate with 35” tires no level. Towing 30 ft bunk house from Baton Rouge to East TX recently got 12. I have the HD 6 speed. The 2023 has 10 speed as an option. There is a $3500 up charge for tge ford 7.3 IIRC where as the 6.6 is the standard. The GM has 401 HP compared to 420 Ford. Torque is almost the same.

The 6.2 is standard for Ford. It has 385hp.
The GM 6.6 is closer to the 6.2 than the 7.3 power wise.
Its also a $2,045 upgrade (not $3,500) and gives the best gas numbers of any HD truck.

If 90% of my mileage was non-towing like most people who buy 3/4 tons I would get the 7.3. I wouldn't buy any other gasser in a 3/4 ton though.

Good chance that will be my next truck. In a 2016 6.7 powerstroke now and do a moderate amount of towing and cross country traveling.

I drive very little during the week, to work and back. 90% of my mileage will be when we’re going to grand isle & back either towing camper or boat.

I drive 5-7k every month, in my work car.
F250 is a driveway ornament.

I average about 15mpg unloaded and about 10 pulling a 12.5K fifth wheel in my powerstroke and the guys I talk to with the 7.3 are about the same as my numbers

FWIW my neighbor says his 7.3 work gasser gets like 7mpg pulling a pretty good size boat. The 6.7 diesel gets around 13mpg with the same boat

Right. But factor in diesel maintenance and more expensive fuel, I’d think gas would still come out ahead. Maybe not.. just trying to weigh options here.

Filled my car up today for $2.86
Diesel is still $4.60

Oil changes for my car are $45
Oil Changes for my truck are $130

No fuel filters, DEF, and injectors for my car.

Granted, this is a Ford Fusion, not 7.3 gasser, but still.

Mine is pretty much my second office.

I personally believe that in normal times in regards to fuel price spread between gas/diesel it ends up being a wash over time (150-200,000 miles) IF you don’t have issues out of warranty with the Diesel engine. With the spread in prices we have been seeing the past year I believe one would come out ahead with the gas if they aren’t towing heavy on a regular basis (multiple time per week)

Of course having said that, I love the get up and go that my powerstroke has when the turbo spools up and know that is something I will probably miss if I do go gas on the next one.

Well the 6.2 is spectacular as a general purpose work engine. They last forever, cheap to buy, cheap to operate. The 7.3 is intended to replace diesels in light duty applications for fleet operators who are tired of dealing with diesel costs and/or want to save the up front capital expenses. It's a great engine for a 3/4 ton and even a 1 ton truck. The gas engine also saves you a significant amount of weight, which means much more payload capacity than the diesel. It does not take much tongue weight to overload a 3/4 ton diesel.

Gassers do not get NEARLY the love they deserve in the 3/4 ton market.

I seriously doubt those mileage spreads. Diesels don't do THAT much better than modern gassers unless you try to skew them with the skinny pedal.

I have it.

Does everything I want. Plenty of power for my needs. Pulled everything I've ever hooked up to. Sounds great at 2100 RPMs. Shines like a diamond in a goats arse at 3500-4000.

fricking body bushings are gone. Pisses me off a little. Need to chnage them.
