I don't care where my youngest goes to college because I don't think it matters that much. Nobody cares where you went to college 6 months into your career.
Yeah I regret not going to a cheaper state school for cheaper tuition and easier classes

Seriously underrating MS. Stay out of Jackson and it’s not bad at all.

We don't want it to get too crowded.

Aside from the good food, which can be duplicated at home anywhere, for the criteria of livability Louisiana belongs on the bottom on every list. Sorry folks, am native born and raised, but having lived in KY, GA, FL, TX, and having been to every state on this list, our beloved LA is a pit.

As a born and raised Louisiana person, anyone that doesn’t have TN in the top 3 is full of shite. Louisiana belongs in the bottom 3.
Ever watched lectures from Ivy’s? Cheaper worse schools don’t always mean they are easier. In general, I have found lectures from the top end are easier because the caliber of professor is much higher and they can explain the subject matter much better.

There are shitty and nice areas in all of those states. If you live in a shithole area in Texas a nice area in Mississippi would be an improvement.
I think it should be ranked on number of 5 Cities in each state ranked then compared to other states top 5 .
I would agree top 5 should consist of:
1)FL
2)TX
3)TN
4)GA
5)SC

MS coast is easily 10x nicer than South LA. Delta needs to be abandoned though
I agree. If the metric is best area of the state, what is Louisiana’s? Lafayette, probably but I don’t think it’s better than the MS Coast.
Give me Texas Hill Country for #1

Same here. This is the thread where LA folks try to convince themselves it's not that bad there. Outside of food and fishing it's the bottom.

Plan is to retire to Sarasota whenever the time comes
Always planned to retire in the NW Fl area as we have property there. Plans changed and we just closed on a tear down in Long Boat Key. Still 20 years away from retirement but that area from Anna Marie down to Lido key is beautiful.

Louisiana is certainly a southern state but the culture here is unlike the others. Maybe it's just that I am still new to the area but you probably rated this state too low. Southern hospitality, more pay for the same job than what you get in Alabama or Mississippi etc. Also, food here is in another realm compared to others.

Not all of Missouri is St Louis either. My mom grew up in the Ozarks area of that state and I really like it. Reasonable cost of living, pretty terrain, 4 seasons.

Florida
Texas
South Carolina
No particular order
Also if a state doesn’t touch salt water it’s automatically disqualified for me

Why is alabama more liveable than Louisiana?
Alabama left Louisiana in the dust 10+ years ago.
Mississippi vs Louisiana is a toss up but trending towards MS.

I’m from Brentwood, Tn and it is overrated af and overpriced. I’d much rather live in Bama or South Carolina for better weather and beach proximity or Atlanta,Georgia for access to economic opportunities and overall more things to do.
