Lettuce tastes horrible now

For the last 6 months 95% of lettuce tastes like an old walk in freezer and old mop water? Is is just me?

I grow a lot of lettuce in my winter garden. It's so much better than anything you can buy in the stores. I wish we could grow it in the summer, because I'd never purchase the shite they sell, ever again.
