Grade BK's performance week 1

Fair or not, all things go back to the head coach.
I give a D to D-
I expected BK to come in and at a minimum, instill discipline into all areas of the program. It wasn't just one unit. There was a complete lack of discipline across all areas. Both personal discipline for players, and also undisciplined position responsibilities.
WR, yes
RB, yes (pass blocking adjustment)
OL, YES
DL, yes
DB, tes
Special teams, yes
LBers, YES
We could've expected a mix-up or 2 being ut was week one. It's stunning though seeing the issues across the whole team and coaches.
I sure hope his next grade is an A+, and he gets things righted. If not, he could lose this team quickly and things get real bad

Discipline takes time when the team you’re inheriting lacked discipline under the previous regime. The most inexcusable things were the mistakes on special teams, but thankfully those are very fixable. The most understandable problems were the o-line issues and faulty snaps, coming from a first time center.

Most on here, me included, said coaching alone would improve our team and this staff would have won a few games the old staff would not. I believe we have a good coach and things will get better. But man was that disappointing to watch. Great resolve and comeback. But snaps. O line play. Personal fouls. Special teams. The teams demeanor going in at half. His sort of rambling in his post halftime interview.
I’ll give him a D. But think we still made the right hire. He inherited shite AND everything that could go wrong went wrong. Which is an excuse. I think he’ll right the ship.

His team was unprepared and sloppy. Who cares what the grade was he sucked. He would likely say that too.

What about the previous head coach who left the program with a shite show roster?

I expected more creativity and Discipline. It looked like a Les Miles team.

I give him a B. You have to understand where this team came from. Team will get better with playing time.

He did not cause the coaching shortfalls that were evident.
I agree about previous staff. Look, after 2019, we lost 17 starters...some simply just quitting and sitting out. Then lost Brennan, etc When that happens, you lose leadership. And when that happens, you lose the players and recruiting takes a hit.
All that said, BK got hired before the bowl game last year. It's astounding to me the way things were in disarray and again, completely undisciplined.
I expect losses this year. But when we do I figured at a minimum we'd be qell coached and disciplined.
We weren't, and that has zero to do with skill level

He's trying to gel a mishmash of returning LSU players with transfers and recruits plus having to change the yaw yaw, rip your shirt, crush red bull cans against your head culture. That may take a little more than 9 months to fully blossom.

We were awful in all 3 phases of the game.

Personally give him a B. I expected more, but knew this team's mentality was garbage thanks to Ed. He completely f'd this program doing hookers and blow the last two years while also trying to fight frat boys at UCLA games and Destin bars.
This team will get it together. I think Kelly will have his heart-to-heart with the players who need it. I think Kelly and Brad may be the two best coaches to pull this OL together faster than any duet of coaches in the league.
My one thing I was incredibly surprised about was the absolute shite show at LB. Our D coordinator is a former NFL LB coach and they were the absolute worst unit by far.

Offense
The Tigers moved the ball but struggled to protect Jayden Daniels or establish any running game besides the quarterback himself scrambling for yards. Daniels was constantly off schedule with his new receivers until late in the third quarter, when his offensive line afforded him better protection as Florida State's pass rush wore down.
Grade: C
Defense
LSU's defense did a good job of limiting big plays and came up with some timely stops in the red zone. But the Tigers also struggled to get off the field on third down, and Ali Gaye's ejection in the third quarter for targeting was an unforced error, especially following Maason Smith's injury.
Grade: C
Special teams
Damian Ramos made his first field goal and Jay Bramblett's first punt went well. But it went downhill fast from there. The Tigers had a field goal attempt blocked, a punt muffed and a shanked punt — and that was only the first half.
Malik Nabers muffed two punts, including one in the fourth quarter when LSU had a chance to drive the field and tie the game. After LSU regained possession at its 1-yard line following an FSU fumble, Ramos' blocked extra point sealed the 24-23 loss and negated a 99-yard miracle drive that should have tied it.
Grade: F-
Coaching
Finding the right grade is difficult, given how unfamiliar LSU's coaching staff is with their players in comparison to Florida State's. But the Tigers' subpar communication on the offensive line and special teams woes were notable. Mental errors fall on the coaches.
Grade: C
Overall
It was an ugly performance for LSU. The only saving grace is the Tigers are breaking in a new coaching staff, new starting quarterback and new faces up and down the lineup.
Grade: D+

I did not witness a single element of the game that looked well coached. I feel bad for this team.

I thought he did a good job being the head coach. Other than execution, I thought the calls were organized, time management on point and he seemed in control.
Execution on a few different phases were lacking.
If ST is sured up, you're looking at a W today instead of a close loss.
I see lots of positives and good results ahead.

Team was NOT ready to play the game and NOT even focused to start the 3rd Quarter.
By FAR the worse coaching of all the new leaders for top programs. FL, USC, OK, Miami - ALL had better coaching.

Some of you people need to get a grip. It's going to take time. He still has a lot of malcontents festering in the program.
The kids will improve.
