Apple Air Tags for Luggage

I have a trip planned to Italy and Greece coming up and with all the airline problems with luggage, has anyone used Apple Air Tags for their checked luggage? Any thoughts concerns, experiences would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
TIA

I use them for my golf bag when traveling. they work very well. A ton of people got their bag lost at Heathrow for the British Open and they all could see their bag just chilling at the airport.
Probably won't help you get your bags any faster but its a little comforting knowing they are somewhere close by if an issue arises.

Any tips on flying with clubs? Is it the same as a normal checked bag?

This is actually a genius idea and I won't travel without doing it again. My mom asked me if I wanted to put one in my checked bag when I traveled to Canada recently but I didn't do it
Of course they then lose my bag for 3 days in Toronto and act like they had no idea where it was

I use GPS tracking devices that I pay a subscription for. I keep them on my cars but when I travel I put them in my bags.

I just got back from the same trip last night. Used AirTags on both of my checked bags. I have to say it was very comforting watching them travel around the airport and leave at the same time I did especially after Lufthansa ground crew and pilots striking on Friday and me leaving on Saturday. There were hundreds of bags piled up in the terminal due to the strike. Got lucky and all my baggage made it home.

It was sitting in baggage claim in the middle of the floor with the other hundreds of bags. I go through Toronto and/or Montréal monthly. An absolute shite show. Bags just sitting in the floor next to the carousels for as far as the eyes can see.
I’ll try to remember to post a pic the next time I’m there. It’s wild.

Air tags require a Blue tooth signal from an apple device correct? Seems a gps type of device would be better, as there could certainly be some situations they would not be tracked at a large airport for example without anyone nearby? Given that, if you have them already its better then nothing.

Imagine how many people in the world have an ipad or iPhone. I was a bit wary at first but was surprised at how well they worked. Plus it requires no subscription fee

I put on in my Pod to move across the country so I’m positive it would work in luggage.

The first time I went through YYZ back in April I had to get a work permit processed so I gave myself like a four hour layover just in case. Took like 6 hours. They only had like one or two guys processing requests. Finally got with the immigration officer and showed them my paperwork, paid my money and was done in five minutes. They shoved us all in some sketchy room for hours. People were crying to the security about their connections but nobody cared. Of course we all missed them
Was a pretty crazy experience

Found your bag. It was sitting on the ramp.

Yes, works just the same. Obviously a rolling case is easier to handle so consider curb checking if you don't have one and I wouldn't overpack the case. I've been on two different trips where someone had shaft damage because things didn't quite fit, their bag was examined and not properly re-packed.

When your bag is within 25 ft of people, sure. But imagine a huge airport that has massive storage areas for items like lost luggage, massive underground transport areas, massive open runway space, etc. There may not be anyone with an Iphone passing by some of those areas for days. That's all I'm saying.
If you are talking tracking a stolen briefcase in the airport, sure, that's perfect. But I'm not sure its a great idea for lost checked baggage.
