What’s the OTs favorite ancient civilization

Mine has to be the Phoenicians. From a small area in the Levant to go out and colonize most of North Africa in the age of oarsmen is incredible. What ancient civilizations fascinate you the most?

Basques. They speak the only non-IE language in Western Europe, and at least according to some genetic studies, they've been inhabiting their area for tens of thousands of years. They didn't ever really accomplish much, but there's not much reason to when you have a beautiful place with delicious food.
