I’ve never seen a chanterelle of that color. Ours are always the pumpkin orange variety. For whatever reason, we rarely see them until the fall here.

Enjoy your Non Chanterelle experience.

Chant's gills go down the stem. That's probably a jack o lantern but I wouldn't attempt to put it in my mouth.

Chanterelle gills look melted. Those are true gills.
