Why is this particular section of interstate slower than everywhere else?

Do 13:36
That was my time earlier this week going towards lafayette.

its not far off that they will be doing this on Toll roads. With the toll road scanners, they make the perfect mechanism to enact this. It's coming.

It's dangerous. It's like the worst 18 wheeler truck drivers from all over the world make a pilgrimage to drive on that bridge.

So how does this work for out of state people just passing thru? I would imagine there will be a ton of them speeding with no clue about tickets from being timed.
A sign like this will do the trick.
"You will be ticketed if you cross this here Basin in under 18 minutes"

Interesting, I hardly ever see a Livonia cop when I’m in the area.

How is it more dangerous than driving on the interstate a mile before or after the basin? It doesn't make sense to me. It's straight highway.

They’ve been doing this for decades on some of the French and Italian toll roads. And at one point they did it here on the NJ Turnpike (maybe still do even). State trooper would be sitting right by the tollbooth as you went through ready to write you up.

understand, there will be a time limit from point A to point B and if you are scanned under 18 minutes, you're deemed a speeder and fines are double? Close
I linked an article a while back. That was pretty much it. So it's going to get a ton of people. My tickets are going straight into the trash.

I think it's combination of the volume, the small left shoulder, complacency and speed on a straight stretch of highway between cities.
If you look at this simple map that kind of shows the volume of vehicles on interstate high ways, I'd be curious to see how many stretches of Interstate highway have similar characteristics as the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge

Didn’t the courts already say traffic cameras weren’t legal?
Posted on 8/18/22 at 7:42 pm to HighRoller
That was in Texas. Ask Owlie about it.

I think they were ruled constitutional but still unenforceable.

Apparently they dont try to send to collections until you have racked up like $1000 in tolls

Won’t be enforced for another year but there are people acting like they are already up

Those have been there since before this law. Still, I doubt this has ever been enforced much.

There's a state law that requires signs warning of camera/electronic speed ticketing.
There's a state constitution that outlaws bullshite camera/electronic speed ticketing.

You mean a straight as frick interstate with zero elevation change, a shoulder on the right and only one exit for 18 miles?
How people frick this up is beyond ridiculous. You have to be a fricking retard to get in an accident on a straight road with basically no one entering or exiting for 18 miles.
