Not self-employed any more, but the answers will vary depending on the state.

Government healthcare is the best. Just ask people old people. Medicare functions way better than normal health care.

All cash, claim no income. Medicaid is pretty sweet, plus I get 'dem food stamps!

I know a guy who works out of the trunk of his car. He's more or less a traveling vet, but medicine is medicine, right? If he hasn't had his arm up a cow's arse before I see him, it is usually pretty good.

The government does not provide healthcare, outside of the VA.

And having universal healthcare is the best, it all comes down to preventive care. A guy has a finger that hurts, he gets it checked out and they say it’s cancer, he gets it removed and lives a good life. In the current system he doesn’t go to the doctor and it spreads throughout his body and cost millions of dollars and he dies.

I know you are being funny, but my FiL was a large animal vet of the old breed and unless it was something major, he treated the family. It helped at times that his brother was a people doctor. As he told me once, "mammals are mammals."

Family of 4 around 1100 with a low family deductible..

Premium did rise 20% but Covid increase was part of that.

For reference.. my billed total was nearly 500,000

Obamacare is the reason I left the business we own. My wife runs it now. One of us had to get a corporate job with benefits/insurance.

Prior to Obama, our individual policy through BC/BS for a family of four cost us $400/month with a deductible of $1000. Eight years later, that same policy was going to cost us $2000/month with a deductible of $5000.

Republicans bitch about gov't. Democrats make it bigger and worse. Republicans bitch about gov't. Democrats make it bigger and worse. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Oh and in the current system said person cost millions of dollars in unpaid bills on most cases. The gov is picking up the tab either way.

Wait, weren't we told that if you liked your plan, you could keep it -- and we were going to save $2400 a year on average?

I’m paying $2100/mo for 5 healthy people. $7,000 deductible. There has to be a better solution.

I have insurance through my wife's job, but I did look on the open market for myself and my daughter because her benefits are pretty shitty for adding dependents. The open market honestly was only marginally more expensive. We decided to use hers because it was basically the same price but easier to all be on the same policy. I wanna say a middle of the road policy for myself and my daughter through BCBS was ~$750-800/mo

If you are in or near a decent metro. There are actually some good plans through the ACA marketplace. Just be sure to research each plan.

It actually saved me money several years ago when I had it. My employer had a 3k pharmacy cost and like 10k medical. I was blowing through that deductible in medication in 2 months and it was still 200 bucks on top of that after deductible.

Obamacare was cheaper 59 bucks and I had lower pharmacy deductible. And after the deductible my medication was 5 bucks. It isn't shitty for everyone. The better state and zip code you live in you'll have a shitload more options and some of them are good. If you live in bumfack Lousiana or Mississippi then you are prolly fricked.
