The only thing that switched was from the democrats being openly racist trying to keep blacks from voting to control them, to being racists behind closed doors while creating programs to control the black population as a voting block.

They still hate blacks and exploit them, they just do it with your taxpayer dollars now.

You know, it kind of pissed me off when Mitch removed the Beauregard and Lee statues. Wasn't as bothered by Liberty Monument because that was put up as straight "frick you" to Reconstruction.

Same with the Jefferson Davis statue, to a degree. There was a bust of Col Dreaux about 100' away from Jeff Davis. Are Black people aware that he was among the first killed in battle during The Civil War?

But now with this Washington Artillery piece being removed, I kind of hope we have a city full of empty pedestals. frick Andrew Jackson. frick Joan of Arc. frick Leon C Simon. And frick anyone else memorialized in marble or bronze.

The empty pedestals will signify our complete submission to Idiocracy.

Those pedestals won’t be empty long. Those who remove statues want to pick the replacement for the next 100 years.

Well they haven't pick a statue to put up in the ~6 years since Mitch removed them. I'm confident they'll just remain eyesores and reminders to how fracture this city has become.

It's easy to rename Jeff Davis Blvd after Norman C Francis - who by the way, was a good guy and civic leader. It more difficult to find the money for a statue of a guy who was Lt Gov for less than 6 weeks.

The city needs to save that for Afro Pick sculptures that move on after 2 or 3 weeks.

From the looks of your posts, you seem to be the most racist

That looks like / I think that is a Parrott rifle. If so, that was a type used mainly to almost exclusively during the Civil War. So notwithstanding that AFAIK the Washington Artillery saw action in other wars, that's probably why the cannon, and maybe that memorial or whatever, is being removed.

[ETA]
Not sure why the downvoting--I am just providing factual information that may be informative to some.

I lose track, but isn't that cannon from the Battle of New Orleans against the British?
No, that appears to be a Parrott Rifle, and therefore Civil War era.

They probably think it's a civil war cannon
It appears to be a Parrott Rifle ( Wikipedia - Parrott rifle), and therefore very probably is a Civil War cannon (or a replica of one).

That dumb frick Malcolm Supar, or whatever his name is/was, of "Bring 'em Down, NOLA" thought Andrew Jackson was a Civil War general, even though it's clearly marked on his pedestal that he died in 1856.

Some of these characters are too dumb to look up a name on the internet, much less know the Civil War was between 1861 and 1865. It's embarrassing.

you keep saying white conservatives, they were NOT conservatives at all back then. They were all
pro-Establishment. And the Establishment at the time was Democrat and racist.

actual Conservatives are people who just want to be left alone to mind their own business and live their lives peacefully. Has nothing to do with their skin color or their geographic region.

You are taking a very broad 2022 MSM definition of what a conservative is (white/MAGA/redneck) and applying it to 1860 and 1968 politics.

Because you are stupid and a hack

They were defenders of the status quo who opposed federal oversight that prevented states from governing as they saw fit (slavery / segregation)

That’s fricking conservatives.

That’s bullshite. Social conservatives have literally never had a problem telling other people How to live. And segregation is a social issue.

Nope, they never did. They kept being who they were, even praising racists like Robert Byrd.

All they did was say "We didn't do that! It was those guys that did it!".

Thanks to stupid people and a compliant media, it was then packaged and sold.

And yet it was Democrats who promoted segregation.

Tell us groomer....what party is still the party of censorship/canceling and promoting segregation at every turn.

That's right, it is still the Democrats.

Yes who were conservatives.

Because democrats in the southern were southern conservatives.

Which party bends over backwards to defend confederates and makes sure black people never get ahead?

I’ll wait.

For all the mental gymnastics no one can tell me where all the woke liberal democrats who were passing these segregation laws in states like Alabama, Mississippi and LOuisiana went.
