Teedy apparently took away the cannon on the riverfront at Jackson Square yesterday

They had a big crane putting it onto a flatbed and hauling away, but I can’t find any story about it anywhere explaining why.
Who was this thing pissing off?

We're in the midst of the worst leadership our country has ever witnessed.

Well grab an alligator and fight another round. Fill his head with cannon balls and powder his behind..

Everything you love about New Orleans...is ruined by this cannon.

Bro, we just want to take down Confederate statues. Stop acting like this is going to lead to anything else being taken down.

I lose track, but isn't that cannon from the Battle of New Orleans against the British?

For years it's been a Washington Artillery monument, but they removed the cannon and it's going to be a monument to Oscar Dunn, Louisiana's black lieutenant governor, who was on office during Reconstruction.

Yep.
Unless those on both sides of the political trenches stop beginning every conversation by assuming that the other side is either idiotic, lying, or both, it's time to just start balkanizing the country now.
As I sit here now, I'm confused as to why this cannon would be removed. My best guesses are either misguided civil war hysteria, or some staggeringly odd and misplaced "violence is bad so we shouldn't glorify weapons of any kind nonsense". Or maybe it's something else entirely.
But for now, I'm just going to raise my eyebrows and laugh a bit. Once we find out what's actually going on, my reaction will shift accordingly

Said they are going to put a spear up there as a replacement.

They probably think it's a civil war cannon
