My swing speed is right on cusp of needing stiff shaft. I have another driver that is regular but thought I’d go stiff on my newer driver.
Anyone ever go too stiff? Can a moderate swing speed (91-95 mph) work a stiff shaft?

Your tempo has almost as much to do with what shaft you need as swing speed.

No one is going to be able to tell you what you need.

Swing speed is just a general baseline for shafts. Lots of factors involved, such as tempo, as Mingo stated, and the way you load the shaft in transition.

Yep, and stiffness will also vary between manufacturers and model.

Call a doctor IF it has been more than 4 hours.

I'm right on the cusp of stiff and x-stiff. My transition is slightly fast so I was fitted for x-stiff.

Regular flex no reason to over swing

Can definitely happen.

Consider your age and fitness level. Also your playing habits. If you are about to get old and fat and not be able to play as much, stick with the regular flex. If you are gonna play a lot and get in good shape your swing speed will probably increase a little.

There are a lot of factors that go into this, but the old adage is “play the softest shaft that you can control”.

There’s a bunch of weird shite that they look at now though… go get a fitting.

This was my question too. I was fitted for stiff irons and wedges, but I played a bit with some x-stiffs and enjoyed the feel.

I want to do a driver fitting soon and am leaning toward xstiff options at my swing speed, but then don’t know if I’d have to change out all my irons and wedges

I looked to go down to regular flex after I passed 60, went back to stiff. Can’t work the ball as well with more flex I found

Do not go into a fitting with preconceived notions of what you "want" to be best for you. A good fitter is going to find the absolute best match for your swing. Limiting their options will negate their ability to optimize your equipment.

I would not get a stiff shaft at that swing speed, but go get fitted.

I'm in that 90-95 range and play stiff. Hard for me to keep most regular from going too high and too left. Fit for stiff at GolfTec.

Yea I don’t care if the guy gives me a shaft made of silly string.

But changing shafts and getting and updated club is what’s driving the change. If I didn’t think I’d benefit then I wouldn’t switch. I already hit my driver around 300 and my swing speed is between 113-115. I figure with the proper fitting and a new head that I can hopefully reach 120 with a little practice
