Seriously?

If you're getting a mobile home, why would you spend money on an architect and a custom built one?

Are these mobile homes, or more like a house that is pre-built and shipped to a location? Plenty of those are built and set up about as good as a regular home. I think they are called modular homes.

I feel like I’ve heard this before. How long has it been that way? Are they just cheating spouses instead?

Make sure to have a couple of upside down pineapples included in your exterior design

Don't waste your money on an interior designer unless your ol'lady just has no taste and/or she just likes showing off (burning your money).

Make sure the architect has experience in the neighborhood, that will save you headaches in the design approval process.

Be friends with Jarred now he's also a good resource.

Good Luck

This. You can't build just anything in UC. It will need full approval - design, colors, specs - before you can begin. I suggest an architect/builder familiar with their process and the check the list of no-go contractors.

My wife isn’t an interior designer by trade but loves doing that on the side and won’t cost you nearly as much as a “professional.”

You probably know this, but there is a list of approved /allowed builders. Can’t go with anyone not on the list.

A few trades people have been removed from the approved list recently due to not following rules or not resolving customer issues appropriately

I’m a little late to the party but Tyler Watson built my house in UClub.
I would highly recommend Tyler. His services comes with an interior decorator.

He has a hands on approach and makes sure things are done right.
He also has a great superintendent with a lot of experience.

These are the exact type of replies I was hoping for.. someone with personal experience with someone. I appreciate you chiming in. Thanks

We didn't build there but we built a UC type home in Covington in 2020. We used a BR architect at OnSite and were very happy. We had a designer to help us along the way but I was concerned she would blow the budget if we let her go wild LOL. I wish we had used her or someone else a bit more to push our boundaries a bit out of our comfort zone. I recommend using someone from the beginning as they will help push the architect to a next level home. They will see opportunities to add in detail that a architect won't.

I recommended Jeff Taaffe as a designer as he is BR based and helped us with a couple things and we really liked his style. He helped some friends of ours with a huge renovation. Our builder used him on a parade home and he did a few houses in our neighborhood as well.

This is my concern as well. I'm scared of the ones that charge by the hour or demand to know my budget ahead of time... seems like a potential money pit. I reached out to Jeff last night and hope to get a reply this week. Thanks for your insight.
