Joined a fantasy premiere league and trying to find a team to cheer on. What team is most like LSU?

Honestly none of them. Maybe Liverpool with the recent resurgence.

Not really a comparable team of the 20 but if I had to pick one maybe Newcastle since now that they seem to finally be in good hands they should start living up to potential

Also rabid fanbase that shows up and makes a lot of noise

Though comparison imperfect since they can do it for both halves

If it’s anyone (this is a fruitless exercise) it’s probably Chelsea. Some recent periods of consistently being at or near the top without the ability to maintain that status. Could throw Arsenal in there, but the recent success of LSU more mimics the recent success of Chelsea.

The Arsenal fanbase is probably more like LSU. Supportive when things are going well, catastrophe syndrome when they aren’t.

Bama- Liverpool. Historically and recently great
Georgia- City. Recently great, great roster
LSU- Chelsea. See above
Florida- Arsenal. Some great teams this millennium but mostly shite lately
aTm- Spurs. Peak at pretty good, valley at okay not terrible
Auburn- Everton. Little brother in the neighborhood, program in shambles
Tennessee- Man United. Historically great, recently a dumpster fire.

There’s your big 7 SEC comparisons.

Maybe United now? Both have won titles in the past and both just got rid of “one of us” coaches (Orgeron/Louisiana & Ole/United) for well-known pragmatic coaches. Both have had rapists in their club. It’s uncanny

I agree with this. I disagree with the Chelsea comparisons because we aren’t a bunch of plastics. Also apparently people hated my Liverpool comparison

Man U. Poorly run and a shell of its former self.

Newcastle = Owned by Saudi Arabia (if that matters to you)

& City as well.

I understand that that’s very generalized, if you dived to deep into any of the clubs you could find some unsavory owners I’m sure.

Brentford fans drink the most per capita. Seems like a good place to start a comparison to LSU

I think the long and short of it is that there is no good answer.

for about 11 years it was Arsenal.

Winning manager that fanbase got disgruntled with, kept losing to rivals, didnt seem we would ever get back to the top with manager so a change was necessary but would look bad firing your winningest coach.

And like others say our fanbase seemed similar, we love our players until we dont, freak out over every result.

i would be reading the rant and youd see, no other fanbase does this, and i would just think, they dont know arsenal fans.

I’d be very happy for LSU to have Chelsea’s “un-maintained” success over the past decade and change. They have won the league 3x, the FA cup 2x, the CL 2x, and the EL 2x in the time that it has taken LSU to win the SEC 2x and 1 NC.

They haven’t finished 1/2 in the league since the 16/17 season. There isn’t going to be a direct correlation, but Chelsea is about as close to it gets to LSU. If I were to compare them to another NCAA team it would be Clemson or Ohio State, which is a similar tier to LSU

I’d go with arsenal as well. No doubt very successful at times, but always better in their fans minds than elsewhere.

And before I get pooed on I’m an Everton supporter. We are the Chicago Cubs of the PL.
