Living in a new state where the bug situation is far worse than we are used to. I have young children and they are struggling with the prevalence of bugs on the backyard playset. I figure there has to be something I can spray on it that will make the situation mostly better. Trying to avoid getting a full pest service right now, but does anyone have any experience getting a product at Lowe’s or something that does a decent job of reducing the prevalence?

Any thoughts appreciated! Thanks!

Having the same issue. Just moved, got a new playset that sits partially under a tree and we have a bunch of insects & spiders around it. I ordered a bag of Diatomaceous earth and poured some around the playset and am waiting to see if I notice a difference

diypestcontrol.com to ship to your door or see if you have a Site One landscaping supply near you, they sell commercial quality pest control products also. Suspend, Talstar, and any number of products will do what you want. Just get a one or two gallon sprayer. Most of those you can spray your yard, play equipment, inside your house, side of house, around your windows, etc.

Its all "safe" to use around pets and humans once dry. I ordered 132oz of talstar like 4 years ago and I still have like 20 oz. So, don't do that. Most of them are 1-2oz per gallon so i ordered enough for 132 gallons which would do like 100 acres. So just order like 16 oz Most have 60 or day day residuals inside, which means you need to respray every 90 days. I've found outside any liquid tends to last 2 maybe 3 weeks at most. When I get bad sod webworms I'm respraying every 5 days.

Do any of those specifically chase away wasps and yellow jackets?

For situations like this I like fipronil. It’s not as fast acting, but it has a long residual. This can be an advantage, cause it allows insects to carry the poison back to the nest. Which is handy for ants, wasps, and roaches.

Have not had a chance to use it yet because it’s been raining so much after I bought it; but another poster recommended Demon Max in a different thread (about wasps).

thats easy, just mix 50/60 pine-sol and water and spray everywhere they hang out. they cant stand the smell and abandon the nests and leave and never return. reapply as needed every few weeks so you can still smell the pine-sol.
if you cant smell it any more then its time to reapply it.

Bifen IT

Here you go. Mix this one ounce to one gallon of water in a pump sprayer. Spray all over the structure and ground. Once dry it is safe for kids and pets.
