HR: we’ll you called in three times last pay period and you claimed single and zero on your w-4.
Employee: y’all playing with my money man this some bull shite. I just got paid two days ago for the first pay period a month ago.
HR: That’s because the bank account info you provided was to a closed account.
Employee: man ukk this ain’t working till y’all make this right.
Rinse repeat. 50% annual turnover.

Am I the only one that envisioned Malibu’s most wanted here?

Well I guess it’s okay if you want to be one of the most hated person in the company because all people in HR these days are the puppets for the big wigs

God I hate this expression but you deserve it...
"Tell me you no nothing about plant/refinery HR personnel salaries without telling me you no nothing about plant/refinery HR Personnel salaries."
Where unions are in play, these employees with 3-5 years experience make 40% more than your estimate. And their managers make three to six times that estimate. You're confusing hourly payroll and benefits specialists with what HR professionals with labor/contract experience actually do.

Union based HR gigs are in the minority. Yes, those do make good money, but are few.

I sit down the hall from our HR director. She has the best stories but ain’t no way I’m taking her fricking job.
One small example, she had to deal with the feds when a guy forged a visa for his slam piece.

You're right. I am biased as my career has been in manufacturing IT. HR does make shite in the standard corporate environment b/c they don't do anything.

HR has no natural predators.
At our company they actually have all-Manager calls where they share helpful tips, like one HR person who admitted she blocks off Tuesdays for "me time" essentially.
Oh, and nothing says "Diversity" like a herd of all white women in HR asking you why you're giving critical feedback to a "person of color" who just was caught lying.
Must be freeing to have no fear for your job whatsoever.

I still can it the Personnel Dept. One bad side of the job is having to spout upper mgmt bs with conviction, knowing it's bs, to employees that know it's bs, and having to defend it.

You ain’t never told no lie. For real, in my next life that’s exactly what I’m doing. And you can move around pretty much anywhere because how prominent of subject matter it is nowadays. They even have an HR dept in that research base at the South Pole you could apply to.

Extremely stressful career. Had a close friend that was HR Director and she was always stressed

My ex was over Hr for a company’s distribution warehouse, she used to come home and complain about taking 6000 steps in a day. “It was harder than I thought”

I did it for 6 years, never again. Employees don't know how to solve VERY simple issues with other employees so they come to HR with everything. My first question would be, "How did the conversation go with John when you brought this issue up?" and I would just get a blank stare.
And the owner of the company had some crappy employee related ideas. I had to present them as great to the employees and not say a peep about how much I went to bat for them while they yelled at me.
There is a lot of bloat and I don't care the direction the dicipline has taken the last 10 years but it is a stressful job for someone who cares about the employees.

Not sure what they get paid, but our HR folks do nothing.
They can’t recruit for crap, so rely on us to take time out of our schedules and run on campus recruiting events at local universities.
We constantly fight about job descriptions, since theirs are total crap and we get garbage resumes because you can’t really tell what the job is.
They can’t properly screen resumes since they don’t really know what we do.
They refuse to acknowledge and address regional compensation differences. I live in Charlotte and work in banking. This city is the HQ for Bank of American, Truist, and Wells Fargo’s largest employment center. That skews compensation. You have to pay people here more than other southeastern cities to compete for talent.
Oh and we had one actual issue with an employee where some assistance from HR on a very sensitive matter would have been a ton of help. They of course did nothing.
