If every non-Muslim is “forced” to convert (as opposed to “encouraged”), what purpose in a tax on non-Muslims. There would BE no non-Muslims to tax.

Because you know the tax was a way to force people to convert to Islam.

The Qur’an prohibits forced conversion and even says that forced conversion is invalid.

The jizyah was CERTAINLY intended to ENCOURAGE conversion. Sometimes it was successful (see Bosnia and Kosovo) and sometimes it was not (see the Iberian Jews).

By contrast, look at the Iberian Reconquista. No tax there. Non-Christians were given just two choices by the conquering Christians: convert to Catholicism or be expelled from the peninsula.

200,000 Jews who retained their religion thru centuries of Muslim rule were expelled for refusing to become Catholic.

"We call on Pristina and the United States and the European Union backing it to stop provocation and observe the Serbs’ rights in Kosovo," Zakharova said.

Pristina’s decision "to begin the use of ungrounded discriminatory ‘rules’ on mandatory change of identification documents and car plates of the local Serbs from August 1 is another step to oust the Serbian population from Kosovo, to squeeze out institutions of the Kosovo Serbs, which defend the rights of ethnic Serbs from the arbitrariness of the Pristina radicals led by ‘Prime Minister’ Albin Kurti."

"The Kosovar leaders know that the Serbs will not stay indifferent when it comes to a direct attack on their freedom and are deliberately seeking to aggravate the situation to trigger a force scenario. Naturally, Belgrade is at the forefront of the attack, since the West is seeking to ‘neutralize’ it by means of the Kosovo Albanians."

Such development of the situation is another evidence that the European Union’s mediatory mission has failed. "It is also an example of what the European Union thinks about the role of Belgrade, which, as a matter of fact, is supposed to put up with the deprivation of rights of its compatriots."

Is this why the best local pizza places in my area are all Albanian-owned? They are all called Big Joe’s or Sal’s, but everyone running them is Albanian and they make a hell of a pizza.

Well, the ancestors of the folks in those Sicilian villages last lived in “Albania” about 1000 years ago.

You may as well suggest that Englishmen make great escargot and cheese, since their ancestors came from France at about the same time.

1. Russian troll farm resident Basionok supports Slavic Serbs. Surprise.

2. Ethnic Serbs in Kosovo are refusing to obtain Kosovar identity documents and vehicle plates, and Serbia sees this as a gross violation of human rights?

That's fantastic. Never would an invading horde of Islamic soldiers ignore the writings set down by Muhammad.

I suppose that's better than the "covert or die" option their forebears were given when the Moors first arrived in Spain in AD 711.

True, but how many actually practice any religion at all. The Serbs claim they are Muslim by last name alone regardless if the person actually is religious. My MIL is Bosniac and my FIL is Serb. It is a very weird dynamic most Americans know nothing about.

You clearly know no history. That is not what happened. Isolated incidents, here and there? Sure, those are documented. But it was not the general rule.

Two centuries after the invasion, more than half the population was still Christian. There were entire principalities that were ruled by Christian nobles, which were tributary to Muslim overlords.

The population converted, because it was advantageous for them to do so.

I could cite you to 20 learned articles, but it would do no good. You would not bother to read them.
