Anyone have experience with these areas or could share pros/ cons. Im starting to do some research since I want a place with water access as a weekend getaway to get the frick away from New Orleans when I’m
Not working. I have 2 young kids I want to teach to fish, ski and play golf instead of spending summers in New Orleans. I know they’re all close in proximity but wondering about overall experience, what’s best for family, essentially any first hand advice would be great. Clearly prices have been on the rise so I’m still probably 2 years from making a move, but I want to know what to be keeping an eye out for

Great area, fantastic sand, possible to find empty beaches, but the water is gross.

Why not move to one of those areas and get away from New Orleans for your family’s sake. If you work in New Orleans you could always commute or get a small apartment for you for the week.

It’s run off from the Mississippi River. It doesn’t look pretty but what makes the water gross?

Spent a big part of every summer in BSL growing up.

It was great as a kid.

It’s very muddy and shallow close to shore. Nobody with any sense is going there for the beaches.

My brother lives in PC. His house was destroyed by Katrina. That's about all I got.

It seems half the people I know from the Nola area have places around Bay St. Louis. Seems like a great little area, but prices are stupid high.
Like everywhere else I guess.

Delisle is just north of Pass Christian and east of Diamondhead. Plenty of open space and close to everything.

In that area, you want something on Jourdan River.

Diamondhead is just one big, giant golf community and that's it.

If you get a camp in the Jourdan, pay close attention to which side of 43/603 it is. The bridge ls very low so you wouldn't be able to get a boat into the Gulf if you're on the wrong side.

Moved to the Gulf coast almost 6 years ago and freaking love it. I live in Old Town Bay St. Louis and it's awesome. The secret is getting out and construction is booming all along the coast, you just have to be prepared for the storms, but most residents are well adapted and codes are much better than before Katrina. Great schools and plenty to do from casinos, beaching, boating, fishing, sailing, with great bars, restaurants, and shopping. For a coastal community it is s rather affordable in most areas outside of Old Town, coastal Pass Christian, and downtown Ocean Springs. Hope this helps.
