quote:
The Tiger II was the successor to the Tiger I, combining the latter's thick armour with the armour sloping used on the Panther medium tank. The tank weighed almost 70 tonnes, and was protected by 100 to 185 mm (3.9 to 7.3 in) of armour to the front.[11] It was armed with the long barrelled 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 anti-tank cannon.[notes 2] The chassis was also the basis for the Jagdtiger turretless Jagdpanzer anti-tank vehicle.[12]
The Tiger II was issued to heavy tank battalions of the Army and the Waffen-SS. It was first used in combat by 503rd Heavy Panzer Battalion during the Allied invasion of Normandy on 11 July 1944;[13] on the Eastern Front, the first unit to be outfitted with the Tiger II was the 501st Heavy Panzer Battalion, which by 1 September 1944 listed 25 Tiger IIs operational

I remember the first time I saw Saving Private Ryan in a theater with the huge sound system....and that scene where the Tiger tank (believe it was a King Tiger) was rumbling down the street. I about shite myself.

Probably my favorite tank and that long barrel 88 was a beast although probably a bit overkill. Don’t think it’s front armor was ever penetrated in combat.

Awesome! How do you display your work? Glass cabinet or something?

What's the average time to complete these things? Looks badass.

that is my favorite of all the models you have posted so far - you did a particularly fine job on that one

That's a badass looking tank! The paint job is even more impressive than usual. Looks great!
I enjoy your model building threads, even though I haven't built a model in ~45 years or so. Keep sharing your great work!

Why have you not monetized these yet? With good stationary cameras and scripting (history of the object plus impacts on the war etc etc), you would make some coin. May take a year but well worth the wait. Think about it.

Vader,
I have a nephew who is really into WWII German Tanks, and I think a model tank would be a great gift for him.
Do you have an recommendations on brands of models, or vendors who carry a variety of models that would be suitable for a 13YO who doesn't have a ton of model building experience?
Thanks!
