By this rationale, DeSantis and a handful of others should be in prison. Fact of the matter is that very few people, Trump included, had the balls to stand up for civil liberties and most allowed fear to dictate their decisions.

I’m not saying it was easy. When we started giving hospitals and doctors 20% more for every Covid death, they started counting car crash deaths as Covid deaths… the number was flashed on every news channel like a fricking MDA telethon. And the higher the number the more ratings. It was fricking sick.

again in retrospect I agree that Trump could have handled the whole incident better but what you're describing with Desantis' actions were taken much later than what Trump faced initially. most of Desantis's actions, which I have agreed with, have been taken during Biden's term in office.
do you not remember the screaming from the mountain tops about how deadly and infectious this virus was and the mass hysteria this country was in spring & summer 2020? my God they were arresting lone surfers off the coast of California for breaking lockdowns.
