Hot take, coach o was an average recruiter.

I get it has been trendy to shite on Coach O lately but, he was an elite (albeit misguided) recruiter. He was also the HC for the best team in CFB history. Again, that is completely different than saying he was the reason we won the natty.

He doesn’t deserve any respect the moment after the confetti fell. He completely fricked LSU over from that point forward

Not sure what it means to be a “great recruiter” these days. Even before NIL it felt like it was all about the bagmen.

In any case, Orgeron always whiffed on a few when signing day finally came and it seemed to catch him unprepared.

Do you remember any team since Dinardo left that didn’t have good talent? The school recruits itself and we have a top class weight room program. Any coach here should be viewed as a good recruiter.

Also remember when Les told Jamar Chase he wanted him to play defense?

"We gonna run the Joe Brady offense!"

I wish a reporter actually asked him to detail what exactly the "Joe Brady" offense was.

As long as we're playing this stupid game, you remember when Devin White wanted to be a running back and Les was like nah?

Also inb4 you bring up Dak as if everyone else also didn't recruit him as a TE

or why he called it the "Joe Brady Offense" when all his minions insist it was Ensminger's offense.

Both were clowns who were propped up by LSU and Louisiana talent.

it’s a little harder to recruit when you’ve steadily run the program closer to the toilet as Les did. The program Les inherited was not the one O inherited.

Now do the one that Brian Kelly inherited.

How long do you think it took Saban to get his machine up to full power?

2012ish, so half of Miles' tenure against Saban.

I stand by my original statement. Obviously, all of the O years were against the power in Tuscaloosa, whereas Miles had several years against an inferior product and actually had a nice head start on Saban (using what Saban left him at LSU). This ain't rocket surgery.

Saban won his third natty at Alabama in 2012. I would say that his machine was pretty well oiled by that point.

Apparently it is. Miles had two or maybe three (maybe) seasons against Saban while he was rebuilding.

9-3 his last full year isn't where we wanted to be, but is still well above "the toilet".

LSU was 9-3 in the last full year of Les' predecessor.
LSU was 9-3 in the last full year of O's predecessor.

both inherited teams ready to win, and win now.
O said so himself when campaigning for the job. He didn't change his tune until he lost to Troy and claimed we needed "better players" to be able to compete with the mighty sunbelt conference.

we going to pretend he wasn't undefeated until SEC Championship game in '08?
or that he didn't win a title in '09 (with one of only 2 undefeated seasons in his career)?
or another title in '11?

does it matter?
he barely squeaked out a winning record against Mississippi State, let alone Alabama.

Then why did we frequently struggle with OL during his tenure? He was our coach for 11 years yet from 2008 - 2019 ( basically including anyone he would've recruited) we had 11 OL drafted with zero 1st round picks and 1 2nd round pick.

Was unlikely to deliver less than 8 wins seasons with occasional playoff or, less frequent but possible, NC. Seemed like Miles culture > O culture.

O brought a culture that was so individualized that the floor was always within reach.

La'El should have been a first rounder, but for that bullshite investigation at the exact wrong time.
