I’ve seen everyone tout this show as the GOAT. I’m about to start S1:E5 as I type this post. McNulty and Bunk are interesting. Omar seems a lot more interesting than Barksdale or Stringer or any of that crew. Just waiting for some action.

I just don't remember it being a slow burn. The show IS the characters. It's not an "action beat per segment" kind of show. It's a police procedural, but much closer to real life than most you've seen.

I was hooked from, "Got to, man. It's America."

Although certainly some pretty big shite happens, that really isn't this show or why its considered so important.

its focus on realism, more than any show before it, is what the hype behind it is.

Episode 10 for me. It was a little of a slow burn for me as well. But after 10 it explodes.

My advice: skip The Wire and watch or re-watch The Shield, which is a superior cop show.

When you get to Season 3, just know its a current rebuttal to every progressive, community policing policy currently under consideration or enacted.

Hamsterdam concept is something liberal cities thought would work, still thinks works and is nothing but outright failure.

Thats one reason why its a great show.

If you don’t like it after episode 5, you don’t have the mental capacity required to enjoy it

To me it takes off when Kima goes undercover and that goes to shite

That’s my turning point

But stick it out anyway. It’s so great
