STP's Plush = lower end of the middle of the road rock song ever, at best.

IMO

Not even a top 5 song on their debut album.

Dead & Bloated
Sex Type Thing
Wicked Garden
Creep
Piece of Pie
Crackerman
Where the River Goes

All > Plush......IMO of course.

I always thought it was like the 1st Nickelback song - it took me like 2 years to even know how it went. It's just not very catchy overall. The chorus did end up finally capturing me, but they have many, many songs better than this one.

e.g. Interstate Love Song is by far their greatest, and is ~100X greater than Plush.

Great great song but I don't even need to research and can say this isn't true.

Also:

Creep

Crackerman
Where the River Goes

What an amazing album that was.

I feel like STP was a sign that music in the 90s had peaked and that there was about to be a shitload of poser bands, hoping to ride the coattails of the Seattle bands.

STP was okay but a lot of other bands that were blowing up in that time period(Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms, Blues Traveler, DMB, etc) were pretty mediocre...but seemed a lot better compared to shite like Creed and Limp Bizkit at the end of the decade.

Disagree on black hole sun. That one is a great song.

Plush is good, but like others have said, it's not even close to the best song on that album.

I dont know anyone that liked them in the 90s... they were def in the wave of bands the record companies were snapping up in the hopes of signing the next big thing...

edit: I should have said in the moment of their break through popularity... Im sure Ive since met people who prob liked them back then...

I dig it, but I'm not sure it is even their best song.

Oh I know. That was a killer trippy video back in the day before CGI took over everything.

STP had the most varied sound of any of the popular Seattle bands.

They were originally called Mighty Joe Young when they formed in 89.
