U.K. braces for record heat as it becomes one of the hottest places on Earth
No fear porn here:

LONDON — Residents told not to venture outside. Salt trucks spraying sand on roads to stop them melting. Doctors pausing medical operations. Rail authorities warning tracks could buckle. Experts saying hundreds or thousands could die in the heat.
Damn you…man
quote:
While these fires have become depressingly familiar in some parts of the world, most of Britain is just waking up to the reality of extreme weather that’s exacerbated by manmade climate change.

Heatwaves happen.
Engineering your roads to only handle certain temperatures kind of fricks you when they get higher. And my guess is we aren’t even to historic highs there yet.

We usually get some road buckling every year. It's not unusual.
Same with sun kinks on the railroad. Those are mitigated by proper maintenance and installation.

ehh these are the same people that says 60 is too hot to play soccer.
Lol like ole baw said earlier, this is just summer in the south.
quote:
“This is not ‘just summer,’ French senator Mélanie Vogel tweeted. It is “just hell” and will pretty soon become ‘just the end of human life’ if we continue with our climate inaction.”

London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared and battle comes down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look to us
Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning and I live by the river

It is 75 and cloudy with some light rain here. If manmade climate change means 102 for the Brits and 75 in the Heart of Dixie, I’ll take it. Screw em.

I’m going to offer our friends in the UK some advice from a wayward colony: When it’s hot outside, it’s far more pleasant to leave your jeans, pants, etc. in the closet and instead, bust out a pair of shorts.

Difference is that France and the UK don’t do air conditioning, so they aren’t in a position to handle this shite.
When a large group of southerners went to the UK on a study abroad, myself included, we bought out every fan in a 20 block radius as a result because we were hard to fans and air conditioning. Worked out well when we got a heatwave about 3 weeks later and the whole city was sweltering.

Fox8 this morning reported this stuff. They said they were putting sunscreen on pigs…I did not make that up.

Pretty sure any Brits of English, Irish, or Scottish extraction who wore shorts would be blinding reflective due to being so pasty white.
