Broadhead was much better than generally given credit for.
He was a PR nightmare and butted head with the board on a regular basis. He was generally right, but he needed to communicate better with the board so that they understood the vision. The bad relationship caused lots of other problems and made him not as effective as he should have been.

1. Woodward (tie)
1. Broadead (tie)
3. Skip
5. Alleva
5. Dean

Broadhead transformed the athletic department into a business model long before most universities were doing so. Alleva and Dean almost ran the athletic department into the ground.

Saw Joe Dean run over media equipment by old Alex Box once. He kept going and yelled out of car window, “Send me the bill!”

I didn’t know it was possible to be any worse than Alleva

Not a AD but Mark Emmert. He alone is responsible for Tiger football resurgence!

I’d put Broadhead above Joe Dean and maybe even pretty close to Bertman. He had the AD humming with some pretty darned good hires, the best of which was Skip.

I’ve watched this thread and thought it would go different initially.

I fricking hate Alleva, but props to tRant recognizing Joe Dean was a terrible AD. Nothing personal about the man, but he set LSU back a decade or so in athletics.

Woodward has done as much to hurt lsu athletics as any AD I’ve seen.

Huge spender, went all out to make the athletic department a political entity covering to every whack job he could.

Time will tell if he can pull back out of the mess he’s help create.

1. Woodward
2. Broadhead
3. Bertman
4. Aleva
5. Dean

Woodward wants the best of everything, goes out and gets it and is willing to pay for it. Dean was the opposite of this. Dean was a great guy and a charismatic speaker, but he thought everything was on cruise control. Until he self destructed, Broadhead had some of Woodward's best attributes, but not to the same extent. I love Skip, but he did not have these attributes. I give him credit for hiring Saban, although Saban fell into his lap. Aleva was snake bit.

Broadhead made the lifetime contract with Florida every year. About the only good thing he did. Jury is still out on Woody. The Louisville baseball coach wanted the job badly, and didn't get it. Dean hired Curley based on one win, and let Dale Brown hang around too long
