Over the the past couple years?

I have and it bothers me. I feel like it’s related to the political environment, but part of me still wonders. I have strong relationships with the other folks in my family. The ones who have cut me off are pretty far to the left politically and socially.

Has anyone else experienced this?

We've had someone stop talking to us over electric bikes.

People are soft these days.

My liberal cousin and his family have cut me out because I hate their liberal views and because I told them their daughter, who now has a beard, was mentally ill.

My life is much better without them.

I mean, if they behave like that, who cares?

Clearly they didn't value the relationship with you as much as you did with them so screw them.

Sucks, but at least they showed their colors.

I have cut off communication with my Mom and sister. They love to always be the victims in life, I can’t stand that shite! It took me years to realize. One of the last times (4 years ago) I sat down with them at my sisters house and had a 30-45 minute conversation with them. I left from there, and I’ve never been so drained (mentally) in my life. For myself, my wife, and son, I want no part of that shite. They just regurgitate all of the shite that they see on TV. It scares me that people that share the same bloodline as me can be so ignorant..

I got off social media so kind of, but not intentionally or specifically cutting people off (just effectively doing so).

My wife completely cut all ties with a long time close friend over political/social stuff. She wasn't dramatic, she just dropped all communications. Her reasoning is that they're in very different places, and with belief systems butting heads now, she didn't need to spend time on her. The girl in question was making generic posts about how if you voted for Trump you're this or that, etc. and made some abortion comments (long before Dobbs) that really bothered her.

As a third party, I think it's reasonable in part and not healthy in part. On one hand, she's right, the idea of staying friends with people who are diametrically opposed to your belief system on a fundamental level doesn't make that much sense. That girl doesn't want kids, we have kids, etc. But, I do think you can probably do it more graciously than just cutting someone off and leaving them hanging.

FWIW, this girl was a Christian conservative who was married to a guy in conservative politics, so she shifted pretty heavily to get to this point.

I’m the one that cut off friends that were Never Trumpers and voted for Biden. Why would I want to be friends with people that voted for the destruction of our country and our way of life.

I’ve cut off communication with about 50% of my “so-called” friends over the past 10 years. Life is too short. bullshite takes up too much time.

My favorite niece when she went full blown out of her mind liberal cut me out. Her life went to shite because of the decisions she made so I’m not missing much. She has 2 kids I’ve never met, got a divorce from a guy she never should have married and is a mile left of ANTIFA members.

A sister in law cut me and the wife out when she married a sovereign citizen Liberaltarian. Dude was just odd.

It happens. My dad’s family has spoken since the 90s. 3 brothers and a sister that just ghosted everyone.

Yep .. I have 3 cousins that have been like sisters to me. Each are progressives with a capitol P. One of them is 76 years old .. graduated from FSU in the mid 60's and she is 100% woke over the edge .. hates Trump with a passion. Election day '20 I told her that I voted for Trump .. her response .. "I don't want to hear it, I just don't want to hear it." End of conversation. Each of them get way too hostile if you don't agree with their political views. So I just avoid the topic with them. Life is too short and I don't need the aggravation trying to change progressive extremist ... family or not.

Yes. There's an aunt of mine on my dad's side, and her two daughters, that miss EVERY family gathering ever since the currvid hit, and won't even interact with us on social media any more. They're very active on FB and the Twatter, constantly posting anti-freedom NPC talking points, but their interaction with the 95% of us that are outspokenly conservative is reduced to ZERO.

It is 100% related to the political environment, and for that reason alone you shouldn't care. I've grown even closer with the conservative side of my family as a secondary affect, and it's been a blessing. I will always love all of my family members and will communicate and socialize with them if they want... but they don't want that, and it's no sweat off my sack.

If they openly refuse to even speak to me just because I don't think America is a shithole that needs to be turned into a fascist shithole, then that's their problem.
