Riddle me this………..

Why does the IRS require ammunition? Are they now considered to be part of the executive branch? Who do they answer to? I know the bill will never make it through Congress but it does shed light on something which is very suspect.

Is the average American citizen the enemy of the state?

quote:

It came after Gaetz, in interviews with Fox News and other outlets, expressed concern after he discovered that the IRS purchased more than $700,000 in ammunition in recent days. The congressman suggested that it’s part of a broader White House plan to disarm Americans.

Who knows what that arsenal looks like now.

quote:

According to a report released by the Government Accountability Office in 2018, the IRS has been stockpiling ammunition and weapons for years. As of 2018, the agency had 4,487 firearms and 5,062,006 rounds of ammunition in its inventory, the report said.

I also find it odd that the IRS needs ammo but if they’re planning on disarming Americans, they’re gonna need a lot more than that.

They’ve probably been hiding this in their budget. I doubt they’ve been telling congress that they’re amassing their own armed enforcement wing.

They’ll probably argue that this is simply a protective force, possibly for their buildings, but that’s not their job.

The entire government needs an in-depth audit from top to bottom.

It could be as simple as they are using government agencies to remove ammo from the market to limit and increase the price of the ammo available to citizens.

Actually, they are considered to be part of the Executive Branch. They’re under the Treasury Department and many of their top spots are appointments by the President. And, I do believe that it is their responsibility to enforce liens and levies which requires them to go out and seize property. Generally, delinquent taxpayers who are having their properties levied upon are not always cooperative or "friendly." They're also called to investigate some really bad people like drug dealers and Democrat politicians.

Big Friggin Deal. You do know that they have agents who carry guns right. Stop being outraged over everything and think once and a while otherwise you become like the little Ds crying racism all of the time. Besides nowadays $700k buys what, like 2,000 rounds of 5.56?

They have 2200 or so sworn agents. Several qualification trips to the range annually, an annual in-service training session with intensified firearms training, perhaps new carry ammo, perhaps a basic agent training course in which they provide the ammo, additional training for their tactical team(s) …This amount of ammo doesn’t seem out of line at first glance and looks like a PR stunt where the lawmaker could walk away with egg on his face. This should not be construed as me validating the IRS or the income tax system because I want both abolished.

This was most likely secret discretionary spending. It’s not like they sent a bill through Congress and then to trump’s desk for the IRS to start buying ammo. Administrative state is still undefeated. SCOTUS has taken notice though.

Well they do have a criminal investigation branch. Also the treasury inspector general agents are armed. The usual civil investigation agents are not armed though.

And they are a part of Treasury.. under the executive branch.

There is such a thing as them having arms… but how much is excessive is the question.

They were actually battling gangsters in the 1930s. Whether there's still need for that today is entirely different

Yes, they always have been part of the Executive Branch via the Department of the Treasury.

It's been going on even longer than Trump or Obama and it includes more than just the IRS. The EPA has firearms and ammunition in its budget too.

Presumably it's for LEO in each department.
