I wish I was as brave as my father and grandfather.

My grandfather was in the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Pointe Du Hoe. He was not one of those that returned. He died on foreign soil, fighting for people thousands of miles away.
If you're not familiar with what they did on June 6th, do yourself a favor and look it up.
Today was his birthday.
I am not worthy.

Tomorrow the media will talk about 1/6 more than 6/6

That’s pretty cool. Still craters at that site to this day.
What did your dad do that you allude to?

He was a Purple Heart recipient from Vietnam.

Have you ever watched Reagan’s speech in Normandy at Pointe du Hoc? It was the 40th anniversary of D-Day.
When speaking about the Rangers that climbed the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc and the obstacles they faced,
“…and in seizing the firm land at the top of these cliffs, they began to seize back the continent of Europe. Two hundred and twenty-five came here, after 2 days of fighting, only ninety could still bear arms.”
God bless your grandfather, and the rest of the Rangers climbing those cliffs nearly 80 years ago.

The field maps were mis-labeled "Pointe Du Hoe".

Looks like you have some big shoes to fill.

Those in France after D-Day were hoping to Finde Du Hoes.

Point taken. Sad but true.

He fought in a war so that you wouldn't have to. My grandfathers and great grandfathers, on both sides did the same. My father and his brothers were in the military and didn't have to to physically be part of any wars. I wanted to join the military and my own father talked me out of it. There haven't been any wars in my life (and possibly yours) that were necessary for me to fight in, thanks to past ancestors of us all. Just because you didn't have to doesn't mean you're not as brave. They lived the hard life so we wouldn't have to. If I had to, I would have in a heart beat, as I'm sure you likely would have. Honoring, respecting, and always fighting for freedom in the ways that are necessary in the current times, is still being brace. It's unfortunate that the biggest enemy of freedom is now on our home turf, in our own government, etc. It's a very different kind of battle that needs to be fought.

No one knows what they are capable of until the moment comes. Understand that a part of your grandfather is there in and with you.
Just be ever vigilant.

I'd like to think I would respond as he did in the same situation.
The men were just different. They did the shite in real life that we do on our PS5's.
