DOJ sues Arizona over proof of citizenship voter law

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is suing the state of Arizona, seeking to block a law that would force residents to provide proof of citizenship in order to vote in federal elections.
quote:
The Arizona law could remove tens of thousands of people from voting rolls.
quote:
Data provided by the state indicates there are some 11,600 federal-only voters who have not provided the proof of citizenship necessary to vote in state elections. But NPR estimates show as many as 192,000 voters could be removed from rolls if the new law takes effect.
quote:
The DOJ argues the new law also runs afoul of a 2013 Supreme Court ruling stemming from another Arizona suit, noting that the state can’t impose the proof of citizenship requirement on those who register to vote using the federal form.

Unreal that this isn't just "common sense" nowadays

Now ask yourself, why wouldn’t the Federal form to vote in Federal elections have a proof of ID requirement?

How do they say there’s no voter fraud then say there’s up to 200,000 illegals on the rolls in Arizona?

It's odd how no one says Biden is weaponizing the DOJ while that is all we heard about the toothless DOJ under Trump.

Why is the DOJ concerned about how any state conducts it elections, and specifically why would the DOJ be opposed to restricting voting to citizens?

More evidence Democrats are not actual Americans

If they think Arizona has 192,000 voters that are not citizens... Can you imagine what California's numbers are? Probably closer to a million..

Come on man, every illegal needs a say in our elections. Thats why they're letting them in by the thousands a day . Get with the program bud.

Although I hate fricking libs, I'll never understand why Trumps admin didn't sure, block, suspend, etc...every fricking state they could.
Keep them in court over and over and over
Keep them in court over and over and over

Many people in non-border states--particularly places like the Pac NW and NE--are tone-deaf to issues states on the southern border face.
To folks up north, anything done in the name of protecting homeland security, the economies of border states, and/or the election process is "racist."
It's yet another reason what works in [Vermont] doesn't necessarily work in [New Mexico].
Again ... what started as a great idea(US of A) has evolved into a failed experiment.

DOJ is all in on leaving space for election fraud. There is no other plausible motive.

So I guess the idea is to tie it up in the courts at least until after this November.
Posted on 7/5/22 at 4:10 pm to Bamatab
Mmm why don’t they want honest elections?

It's high time that THIS Supreme Court review a challenge to the National Voter Registration Act.

Of course it is. They can't let Mark Kelly get replaced by a Republican.

DOJ is setting up another win for conservatives. Short term, this buys them votes in November. Long term, the Supreme Court strikes all this nonsense down. Thanks libs!!
