Amazing that the PGA suddenly found all this money.

Amazing that people think these decisions were made in the last 3 weeks. That’s the amazing part to me

Huge. Let's take a look at what this would have looked like at the end of 2021:
1. Morikawa
2. Horschel
3. Rahm
4. Fitzpatrick
5. Hatton
6. Min Woo Lee
7. Paul Casey
8. Nicolai Hojgaard
9. Bob Macintyre
10. Ancer

You can’t possibly think this was all thrown together in 3 weeks, and not been worked out over the last two years and discussed with the players already. You can’t be that naive and delusional. Obviously the reasoning for the tour throwing this together is LIV, but it wasn’t done overnight, and anyone with a brain would know the players were let known this was in the works, hence why the majority have stayed put
There are interviews with Jay Monahan from two years ago where he lays out the new purses and plan almost exactly from The Players weekend

Yeah it's almost like they signed a new TV deal, crazy

Do you really think they didn't have any idea what the amount of money was until LIV started picking off way more guys than the Tour thought they would?
Billion dollar organizations don't do any forecasting according to you and lsupride

when was the last time rumors floated about the DP and PGA tours having a "meeting" besides today? maybe it's been in the works for a few months, but years?

With LIV that's indisputably true. They acted like it was no big deal until guys were already gone. Malpractice.
Keep dick riding Monohan until he's in the unemployment line though

Thanks for telling me my position on the matter.
A lot of these changes are overdue but the tour was working toward them anyway. There was already gonna be a ton of new prize $ distributed once the new streaming deal was signed.
See also - the NBA and the proposed format and presentation changes they've been discussing for years. These things take time.

When was the last time anyone cared the PGA and DP were meeting?

They already did that once. You people are out of your fricking mind if you don't think LIV made the Tour make changes. Accelerate changes? Absolutely, but created new policies as well, and it's indisputable. They're going into the reserves for these increases in purse and the no cut events.

The collectively bargained unionized NBA right? Just want to make sure we are on the same page.

They were probably going to eventually happen anyway because the larger conversation about making changes has been happening around golf for years (and yes the looming threat of the SGL and the PGL has accelerated that).
They are overdue changes, but they're also mostly positive developments so not sure why anyone's upset.
