Peg ratio is a good next step to that i find.

To measure the market price relative to what I consider fair value-
Price to book
Price to sales
Book to ebitda
Price to book

DCF will certainly get a lot of looks now that interest is getting real

dividend, dividend history, PE is ok but it's really what others value the PE which sets the price. I also look at buybacks. There's a crapton of stuff you can check out from the st louis fed LINK
I don't buy companies that don't make money, ever.
This is a slow game though, and it usually works well. I was doing decent this year till energy took a dump :(

I look at several measures when assessing a stock. When looking for good value, sometimes I'll do an initial screen based on PE, PS, and PB. Of course I dig deeper, but that's what I use to get a list to look through. I've found some gems using that combination.
