If they really like Dieng too, they need to do that Washington swap. They would get either Dieng or Sochan at 10.

We're still in the posturing phase of things. What does the Pels being comfortable taking Dieng at 8 tell other teams? That your trade up offers were insufficient.
Why Dieng over Sochan? I think it's because most people expect Sochan to go before Dieng, so it says "we want a player that should be available at 10, maybe even 12, so call us back with a better offer."
