Well what do you consider major?

i dunno. completely subjective. not sure how any employee of an O&G company in 2020 didn't feel the squeeze.

Imagine how many 401Ks of retired teachers we could destroy if we decided to attack corporate profits? Why do you want grandma eating beans and weinies?

We have an administration that thinks printing more money helps the economy. They think that defunding police makes things better/safer. They think that lighting federal buildings on fire is okay in one instance but waltzing into an open door of another is a crime. They think that more gun laws will prevent criminals from committing crime.

No they don't. They know exactly what their policies will do to the people.

The modern democrat party does not have the same goals as we do. This is not the old style of politics where both parties have the same goal but have different visions on how to get there.

When Stalin first took power in the USSR, he opened the jails and began starving out Ukrainian farmers because they were viewed as second class citizens.

When Biden first took power in the USA, his administration/party opened the jails (Soros DAs and judges letting violent criminals run free) and is intentionally causing food and gas prices to soar.

I mean sure there was uncertainty once covid hit but no one was laid off and the only financial hit was that bonuses were slightly below target.

for your specific company. that is not true for other O&G majors, again.

google it Johnny and stop being disingenuous trying to use your company as reference it didn't happen. that's bullshite. "O&G 2020 layoffs". articles, articles everywhere.

If you want to know how we end up with bad energy policies, it’s because there should be no such thing as energy policies. Meaning, the federal government should have nothing to do with energy.

Which majors suspended 401k matches and asked employees to defer paychecks?

google it.
it's widely available. it was not a secret, this isn't a conspiracy.

i really don't see your point in this losing argument. do you want us to give you a virtual pat on the back that your specific employer didn't take these actions?

Exxon for one. At least they made the headlines because they’re always the media’s whipping boy.

Many good operators did right by their employees who stuck it out and rewarded them above and beyond after the 2021 year, and attempts to make up for 2020.

But that doesn’t mean the stress on those loyal employees during 2020 didn’t happen.

Lots of people say there’s not the same level of loyalty and commitment from employers towards employees like there was 40-50 years ago, and that is probably overall true. However, quite a few E&Ps and service companies did right to their dedicated folks after 2020. We can talk about all the negatives in our country since the 2020 Elections, but many private sector employers, and especially in the O&G industry, show and gave examples of what’s still good in our country.

it's all a game ... make the big bad oil companies the evil scapegoat while at the same time implementing policies that hamstring their ability to meet the challenge at hand

it is possible, really, that the ESG/Green Agenda crowd might end up in conflict with more moderate folks in their own party -- at some point - even if to only save their own arse

we'll see

Democrats believe that oil or other minerals in the earth belong to the government and it drives them nuts that private landowners can claim it.

They want to villify the energy companies at every turn so they can make the case that the government should be the one producing oil and gas, not private exploration companies

completely agree.

i would imagine it's very tough for the O&G industry employees to walk away or be fired. Salary used to be more than competitive and the benefits are still unmatched. And regardless of the future of the industry, it is still a solid place to be for hard working dedicated and talented individuals of our generation. the good and the bad just come in waves.

I work for a major and we definitely felt the impact. Lost about 20% of our workforce, capital programs cut drastically, minimal bonuses and raises etc
