It’s not going to cool the house more than 20 degrees from outside, probably less.

bitch....i have spray foam...i can essentially get mine as cold as i want it

I had my master at a nice and cozy 60 degrees last night. slept like a baby.

my units dont cycle or run all day either because of the spray foam and my attic stays nice and cool

im sure some smart arse is gonna talk about the humidity problems.....yea i have open air returns and 2 stage units, dont have to worry about that, i have tested to make sure.

I can get about 26 degrees of cooling capacity. Maybe I am oversized but I don't think so, 2300 living area and 5 ton in an old house (1950's). I run a portable in our bedroom that can bring it down to 60 when it is 100 out if I want.

This is absolutely not true. My house is staying at 70 degrees even at the hottest part of the day here in Hammond. It’s also cycling like it’s supposed to. Now I stay on top of keeping my unit clean. I clean the outside unit every two months in the summer and I also oil the outside fan motor to prolong the life of the bearings in it. As far as the inside unit I inspect it before it gets ridiculously hot in the attic. Also you should pour clorox down the upstairs unit ro keep algae from plugging it up. I also have my spare capacitor just in case

Correct 20 degree differential between inside and outside is a good rule of thumb

Closing shades will lower you radiant heat gain and turning off lights will reduce internal heat gain. More insulation will help as well. But on a 100 degree day your unit will likely run all day.
