We are under a new covenant and are not bound by the old law that says we must keep the sabbath.

It's hard for people to have been indoctrinated since they were children to admit they may be wrong. There's a point where it becomes about their pride and not about what's "truth". Just keep that in mind.

The Catholic Church is pretty straightforward throughout history about taking credit for the change of the day of worship. It's just that folks don't want to listen to them.

IF he plans to resign, I'd expect it to happen after the appointment of additional cardinals later this summer, during the Vatican's usual vacation month. That way, his changes are more likely to remain in place. Er, make that his inspired by his creator's changes are more likely to remain.
