Normal path would be driving i-20 east bound and exiting i-85 east bound. I'm pulling my boat, 16 footer. Will probably be there around 1300. Any suggestions to get me around the city? Or just drive straight through? Don't mind losing some time, just want to keep the boat, truck, and chillren intact.

Do you have a way to hang the truck nuts from the lower unit? Maybe around the prop?

They wouldn't let me pack my 16' boat, which I mentioned I'd be pulling in the OP.

I85 is North-South. I'm assuming you mean to take 75/85 NB towards Charlotte. Good luck, it's a cluster

There’s no way to avoid it. 285 is worse than the downtown connector.

That time MIGHT be ok. Straight through w trailer. Don’t think can pull trailer in HOV.

Use Waze.
Make sure everyone in the truck is armed.
Have extra ammo.
Don’t stop for anything.

Pay someone to drive your boat while you fly home.

In all seriousness, your best bet might be to take 285 inner all the way around if you’re trying to mitigate bumper to bumper traffic. The connector is hell at this time of day.
