(reparations)
N.J. must ‘repair the harm’ of huge wealth gap between white and Black families, advocates say
With New Jersey’s tax revenue surging to historic levels, now is the time to shrink the vast wealth gap between white and Black and Latino families by creating a “baby bond” savings plan, cracking down on discrimination in real estate appraisals and establishing a task force to study reparation payments, social justice advocates said Monday.
The third bill (A938), sponsored by Sumter, would create a New Jersey Reparations Task Force. The 11-person body would hold hearings and write a report that would “examine the extent to which the State of New Jersey and the federal government prevented, opposed, or restricted efforts of former enslaved persons and their descendants who are considered United States’ citizens to economically thrive upon the ending of slavery.” The task force would investigate “what remedies should be awarded” and to whom, according to the bill.

Maybe they should pass a law which says children can’t be raised solely by grandparents.

former enslaved persons
So ZERO people alive today.

their descendants
That would be great great great grandparents? That lineage is hard to prove.

When does the time come that these policies get challenged and brought to SCOTUS? These policies appear blatantly unconstitutional under several theories.

Funneling even more taxpayer money to minorities for no reason will do a lot for race relations in this country

So the wealthy will move to Texas and New Jersey will sink even lower.

That wealth isn't going to redistribute itself.

Taking money from middle class republicans and giving it to poor democrats.
This is nothing but politicians buying votes with your money.

and yet those that move will continue to vote Blue. However I will say this, it does seem that the folks I know who are fleeing PA and NJ for Florida and TX are mostly Red. But, those are middle age families. The blue voters who flee these entire states are younger, even more liberal ones, who realize their state (PA & NJ) has no future with these constraints but will vote Blue even harder once relocated. The middle age Blue families who flee high crime and high tax areas in those states (mostly cities), just move to the burbs in the same state and vote Blue. They took control of schools boards here in the purple Philly suburbs but the Red voters are starting to wake up and take it back. But, in some burbs, the damage is already done.

This actually means that they want to add discrimination to real estate appraisals.

These inequities stem from slavery

median household wealth — defined as income and assets such as property and investments — is $322,500 for white families versus $17,700 for Black families
Wow, but explain how this is blacks not saving for retirement is white racism? How is did slavery in the 18th and early 19th century affect retirement in the 21st century?

Likewise for retirement funds, 56% white New Jerseyans were saving compared to 38% Black resident and 26% Latinos, the report said.

Nothing says modern society like skintone based laws.
Their idea of innovation is just making anti-white laws, opposed to the anti-black laws Democrats used to create. They can't fathom the idea of creating laws that don't revolve around skintone.

20yrs in the mortgage business and i have never seen an appraisal come in lower just because someone is black.

Good. Let the NJ residents pay for this and see how long their tax base lasts. It seems like we are in a never-ending race to see who can invent the most absurd policy or idea.

10-15 years ago race relations were probably the best they have ever been in the history of the US. Prefect? No. But better than at any point in history. Then Trump ran for President and the media/democrats went into overdrive to try to create HUGE divisions among races. Divisions that otherwise didn't exist to any significant degree.
Simply giving the 7th, 8, 9th generation ancestors of slaves money for virtually nothing will not "improve" race relations. It will create an even greater division once it it realized all of the "reparations" money will be spent instantly and after it is gone NOTHING will have changed other than the people to whom it was given would have a few more nice things.
Democrats have very little policy platforms based in reality. Thus, their entire campaign strategy is simply to "buy" as many votes as possible. There are many US cities that have been under total Democrat control for decades. Yet, those same leaders continue to scream about inequity in their cities between black and white people. So you're telling me that despite being in total control for 30, 40, 50, 60 years you haven't improved ANYTHING...yet you want the people you consider to be victims to continue to vote for you to improve, well, nothing.

Ever wonder why a New Jersey truck driver spending $153 on his campaign defeated the NJ Democratic senate president?
