I have seen a couple. A male comes in the morning and every other day or so a female will come in the evenings. Female will chirp like crazy at first if we are on the back deck but after a few minutes ignores us and goes to the feeder. Neat to watch how quick they come and go.

aside from all of the usuals, I have had several waves of some TINY humming birds that I've never seen before. When they arrive they run every other bird,. squirrels and even buzz my dogs. they come one or two and then about a dozen come in like banshees.

Kinda sounds like Rufous, but

This would be highly unusual.

I can tell one is around by the look and just how quick their movements are. Super aggressive. But, I never see one here until October.

There are about 6 of them here buzzing and chasing like crazy.
I say “about” because they are too dang fast. Haha! Could be 5 or 7.

North of ATL.

Huge increase in last couple days. In the teens now and will be making two quarts a day soon.

Increase in the number of birds started three days ago (North Mississippi) - typical timing for our place. Put out a couple more feeders to spread them out and get a few more feeder "holes" in play to accommodate the increase. We usually put out about 1 gallon of nectar per day when these migrators are here and they seem work their way through our area by mid-September with a few hanging around to early October.

First couple of weeks of September are crazy!

up to 5-8 maybe. Periods of pretty intense flights and fights and chatter, then periods of no birds.

I spent last Saturday in the woods scouting for deer and they were everywhere. Way more than I had ever seen. I am sure when whatever it was they were after in there dwindles down many of them will go to home feeders.

We had them all summer, and now they are here by he hundreds, have five large feeders out and we fill them every two days. I have one feeder that has six birds on it almost all day. North east Texas 70 miles from Shreveport.

Have not seen big numbers yet but should be soon.

We have consistently had 5-7 birds at our house all summer.

Also, we saw a couple of birds at my farm during the dove hunt this past weekend.

I’ve had more than usual at my house in Prairieville. I also put out another feeder a few weeks ago. Running two now.

Had an adult male in the yard this morning. He could only fly a couple feet at a time. I picked him up and set him down on a stone bench where he sat for about 20 minutes. I came out to check and he was gone. I guess stunned from a fight?
