This is something I've been wondering to. There may be a simple explanation but for being so poor he was awfully well equipped and also was driving a fairly new truck, reportedly. I'd be interested in knowing how that came about

The shooter pointed a rubber band at the Uvalde police and they handed all their guns over to him.

Didn’t that belong to the grandparents?

Or he may have done illegal shite.
ARs can be bought for $600, full rifle with shitty parts. There are ARs all over the hood, since 80% lowers are a thing. You can build them reasonably too, I just haven't figured out how to do that in a reasonable manner.

Maybe I am just out of touch with poor people finances, but I just don’t really find the fact that he spent $5-$6k on guns impossible or surprising.

Poor people in this country own $300 shoes and $1200 iPhones and put $3000 wheels on their hoopty.

$5k could have been his life savings, he could have stole money, he could have used credit cards, predatory loans, Biden bucks. There’s just any number of ways that anyone in this country can get access to $5k.

Right…. But his weren’t. They were high end Daniel Defense rifles with optics. Not $500 diy jobs.

Guy had a job at Wendy’s. There’s some interview with someone who talked about him being a loner at work

Shooter worked at a local Wendy's
From CNN's Jeff Winter
Uvalde school shooter Salvador Ramos worked the day shift at a local Wendy’s, a manager at the restaurant told CNN.

Adrian Mendes, evening manager at the Wendy's, said Ramos "kept to himself mostly."

"He felt like the quiet type, the one who doesn't say much. He didn't really socialize with the other employees,” Mendes said.
"He just worked, got paid, and came in to get his check."
Mendes didn't know Ramos on a personal level and didn't see him most of the time because they were on different shifts, he said. Ramos worked from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., five days a week, and was already working there when Mendes started in February, he said.

Read he worked at Wendy’s to save up for them
Seems like he would have had to save awhile on 30 hours a week of fast food pay
