You can also see where the catcher's mitt first makes contact with the dirt, and that bump impedes his motion to make the tag.

I too first thought that the I saw "ripples" from the tag, but it is clearly the strings from the mitt. The lighting would not allow for the "ripples" to go completely dark, they would be darker shades of yellow.

100% he was out but still a good slide

Get rid of the flip phone and watch on a tablet or computer. Also, have your eyes checked by a professional.

The strings of the glove flapping around it's what y'all are mistaking for "his jersey ruffled". At the time y'all think his jersey moved, the glove is a foot away from him.

Lol. Get a better set of eyes. Didn’t hit his jersey.

That was a great slide!

Stole an important out, scored an important run, and eliminated their head coach with a slide.

Last night/this morning I thought he was out looking at it on my phone. Seeing it today on a computer he looks safe. His jersey was moving around already from the slide.

This. I don’t know why people are making it so complicated.

You can pause it @ 1:08 in the video in the OP and see space between the glove and when Cruz's fingers start sliding over the plate.

He was safe.

* I thought he was out in live action
* I realized he was safe after replay on TV
* I watched the high resolution on computer and came to conclusion that he brushed his jersey and thus he was out (reasonable people will see it like this at first, it's an optical illusion)
* Until I realized that the jersey wasn't moving, it was the strings on the glove (once you see it, it's hard to unsee it.)
* And, it's confirmed by using the the other views of the play showing the distance between the mitt and Crews

Honestly, he's 100% safe. I was wrong about that at least twice as I reviewed the play at two different times. Kudos to the Umpire for getting it right.

Watch the full video bud. From all angles. The angle from behind home shows that the glove was still a while from touching Crews when his hand was on the plate. That isn't wrinkles in the shirt from the tag, that's excess strings from the glove in front of the jersey.

Except that it’s clearly the mitt’s strings and Crews was safe and if anyone can’t see that they are legitimately retarded.

I think it’s clear he isn’t tagged till after his hand touches home plate. That’s why it was confirmed and not call stands. Even if he was called out at home they would have reversed it. They confirmed he wasn’t tagged in time.

Which is mind blowing when you have visual evidence that shows there is only one possibility- he was safe.

What you are seeing are the strings on the glove, not ruffling of his jersey.

I didn't buy this at first, but if you focus on the strings on the glove, it is not the shirt that ripples.

tRant has changed my mind for the first time ever. He was safe.

End times are near.

He was safe, but there was no way they would have overturned if called out.

I love to shite on officials but it was really impressive for the ump to call it correctly live. Most of the time they’ll go with out it the ball beats the runner and the tag is anywhere close.
