Honestly, anybody with a brain should be rolling their eyes at this.

Moreover, it provides another reason to hate "rich" people and their ostentatious displays of status, wealth and privilege.

i don't think they hate it. I think most are skeptical that it can be successful for long. I think it's a cool concept and like the dress code and age limit. Not sure what all the "swinger" shite is about, but I wish them well if that's their thing.
I'm glad BR has an alternative to a chain restaurant or another seafood/sushi place.

You know, for doing their best to be a fancy exclusive club, "grilled cheese dumplings" sounds pretty basic.

Wife was reading me the menu the other day, and everything sort of sounded normal but veiled in a fancy name. Or overly explained, like instead of saying "with cheese" it would say some stupid shite like "with multiple dashes of cheddar" or whatever. It was pretty funny. For example, one thing they had was something like "potato puree." So basically mashed potatoes.

I'm all for new restaurants opening, and if people want to dress up and go pay and arm and a leg for typical meals, that's fine. Hell, I'm not sure I'd even be against trying it once. But churching up names of food isn't something appealing to me really.

I'm willing to try any new restaurant once. As others have stated, it's different for BR, it's perhaps not sustainable, and it may flop. But I'm not going to fault someone for trying to make it in the restaurant business. If they are committed to doing it right, every night and with every customer, then good for them.

If it's just okay, and it costs 4x what "just okay" should cost, then it'll fail unless they improve it. I'll go in a few months once they've worked out the kinks.

I'm betting FallGuy doesn't take his regular clothes to the cleaners. Probably doesn't iron all that much either. Like most of us regular ole dads.

You don't have to be bitter to despise flamboyant displays of opulence. You can simply look at these people and think of three other folks you know with just as much money if not more but do not act an arse flashing their wealth around like a douche.

It's the same way you can have gay friends and know a few flamboyant gays. You judge the latter but aren't hating on the former for being gay.

See?

I've worked in a white collar job for over 20 years but I don't really dress all that fancy very often.

I have lots of button down shirts and slacks but no sports coats. I've never had the need for one.

A certain northerly BR culture will somehow ruin it just like they ruin everything

Ok so we have the following:
1. Created by Brandon Landry (who probably did years of research for this and knows what the frick he is doing)
2. A really, really expensive menu
3. A really, really exclusive vibe
4. Located in South BR where keeping up with the Jones’ and “being seen” is a way of life.

Explain to me how this fails?

No hats. How the hell can I rock my fedora if they don't allow hats?

I think this place will be like a more expensive Soji. When soji first opened everyone was lining up trying to get in and take pictures of themselves eating there. After a couple years the buzz has fizzled out. I went to Soji for the first time last summer and was not impressed at all and thought it was incredibly overpriced for what they offer.
We have a Dunkin' Donuts like that here.

I think we can all agree that the owner has already made it in the restaurant business.

I’m all for Baton Rouge having creative ideas for restaurants. People shitting on this are typically the same ones that say Baton rouge is nothing but chain restaurants, yet only go to chain restaurants.

One thing I do agree with everyone about is the IV drink bag is cheesy.

How is it a flamboyant display when the location is private and the folks are removed from public eyes?

This place seems absolutely no different than the popular / upscale key clubs were in the 70s and early 80s in NYC, Chicago, etc. People maybe had heard about them but had zero idea of what it was like inside.

Interested to see if Baton Rouge will support something like this.

I had to look up the location on Google Maps, it must be hidden off Perkins cause I pass that area very often and never noticed anything new.

It's tucked away back there by the Post Office and U-Haul building. Very weird spot. Probably cheap as hell to build there.
