The next Advocate article which talks about how certain demos can't seem to get a reservation there.

If Landry is smart, The Advocate employees won’t be able to get a membership or reservation.

I’ve been told the menu has Japanese Wagyu beef. That’s pretty awesome if so..
I read in an article the other day it was 35 bucks an ounce.

quote:

The fresh produce is from Farmer Lee Jones, a celebrity regenerative farmer in the Midwest. And to offer the A5 Shichiri Wagyu beef from Hida Prefecture, Landry had to buy a special membership, he says. Served on a hot stone, the highly marbled Japanese steak is priced at $35 an ounce, and the Supper Club is one of only 12 restaurants in the United States to serve it, Landry says. It’s one of several luxury steaks on the menu.

It's a small building, and not a lot of parking. So I don't think it's designed to be a very crowded place.

Probably a good thing.

We have a supper club with friends. I don’t wanna hang out with a bunch of random losers while spending a butt load of cash if I’m being honest. I hate the whole Los Angeles scene.

I hope they kill it and it stays around. It’s not really my scene or somewhere that would be in many peoples regular rotation but Baton Rouge needs different options. At least someone is taking the risk and trying something new out

I want to try to go there. The grilled cheese dumplings look neat.

You know, for doing their best to be a fancy exclusive club, "grilled cheese dumplings" sounds pretty basic.

I mean.. it’s A5.

I’m sure they have several other steaks on the menu.

This cracks me up, they act like this joint is in downtown NYC not a field between a bank, a post office branch, and a Sonic

Negative. I don't think I ever have either.

Has this place been accused of fostering white supremacy yet? Seems like it won't be long before that starts flying around.

Not yet...but it is coming eventually. They have a dress code.

I applaud Landry for trying something new and different in BR. But BR ain't Las Vegas. Once the initial intrigue wears off, they will still have to earn enough to keep the doors open. And there aren't a ton of cheesy "elites" in BR to constantly fill this place. Contractor baws in their new PFG shirts and ghetto-fab guys in JC Penny suits (with matching shirt/tie combos) are eventually going to want to get in to impress their ladies. At that point the "sophisticated eliteness" is over.

Let me predict how this will go:

-It will start off very popular with the affluent white crowd in BR that jumps balls deep into anything new and exclusive. Add the Brandon Landry connection and this will be intensified. They will have amazing staff, management etc. They will enforce a strict dress code and reservation policy to keep it classy. It will kill it and make tons of money for say the first year.

-Next the affluent will latch onto something new and SC will start being more available and popular to the average BR crowds. The amazing staff will leave to go follow the next hot affluent crowd obsession so they will start hiring mediocre wait staff, bartenders, kitchen staff, management etc. They will start to lax on dress code and reservations bc they need to make money. It will still be making money and busy, but going downhill.

- Next the bottom of the BR barrel will get their claws into it expecting some amazing 5 star experience that they read about on facebook the year before and it will not be that experience. They will get beat down with complaints, demands, unruly customers, fights, parking lot party fb videos, social media controversy etc. This will make it a miserable place to work for management, staff etc.

- Next it closes, another one of BR's less exclusive entrepreneurs opens it up as something else and it lasts about half the 3 years it lasted as SC, and eventually it ends up a chinese buffet.

The BR story. A tale as true as time.
