John City is the next Fredericksburg
It is home to the Texas Vintage Motorcycle Museum...which is pretty fricking awesome. But not sure about it being "the new, cooler Fredericksburg".

With a population under 3,000, Johnson City is now home to new restaurants and bars alongside the existing sights. Its placement on Texas’ “290 Wine Trail,” which starts in the town and runs along Highway 290 before ending in Fredericksburg, doesn’t hurt — there are multiple tasting rooms and wineries in Blanco County.
While Johnson City is not as overrun with tasting rooms as Fredericksburg is, it’s worth a stop for unique wine finds and a more chill, cooler vibe.

The Fredericksburg wine sprawl has spilled over to Hye and Johnson City. The nice thing is you aren't dealing with hordes of tourists like in Fredericksburg. I kind of like Blanco too, it has 2 distilleries (3 counting Real Ale) and 3 or 4 breweries. And it has a Buggy Museum!

A friend of mine owns a winery out in Johnson City. The wine is 'meh'

We were at Garrison Bros a few weeks ago for an event and really enjoyed it. Great place to hang out for a few hours. Then dinner in downtown JC at the Pecan Street brewery. They had a decent band playing in the back with really good pizza and beer.

Also the LBJ Ranch is nearby and offers tours.

Wife just got back this past weekend from Fredericksburg and that area for a "girls trip". They loved it. That's all I got.

Utopia/Bandera area is pretty sweet

In Bandera go to OST for breakfast. Belly up to the bar on a real saddle barstool. Diner type food is pretty good. Atmosphere is hard to beat.

My favorite Hill Country winery is in Hye. William Chris has some pretty good wine for Hill Country wine. It's also got a gorgeous view!

Johnson City is an awesome town. I take customers every year to the Shirley Ranch there. It's owned by Tom Benson's grandson, Ryan LeBlanc. He's a genuine guy to be around and his property is awesome.
