I drive through this town about 6 times a year for work. They have a huge sign that simply says, "Welcome to Coushatta. Home of Champions."

Ummmm, champions of what? Is the town simply full of champions? Did Coushatta beat minden or Bossier City's arse? Someone explain!

I was born in Coushatta in ‘84. Grew up in Mansfield.
To answer your question Coushatta is home to MLB World Series Champion Bill Adcock
They have three boys and girls state championships in basketball and one in football.
Here is the picture of sign.

I go to Coushatta quite often for work. It’s a nice little town that hasn’t been infected by a Walmart yet. Good people there

Nice compared to other small shithole towns in Louisiana with no opportunity and poor education. Some of y’all need to get out more.

If you're not hand to mouth poor, you can find opportunity and education anywhere.

Can’t remember the name of the place, but they serve awesome burgers and turkey legs. Used to stop there after leaving the lease.

Sign has to come down immediately due to those racist native America images. How dare you Coushatta!

Historical gossip is that local Coushatta officials pissed off Huey Long somehow so he routed the main highway from Shreveport/Bossier to Alec to run outside of the town, hamstringing it economically.

Here’s my connection to Coushatta:

Back in the 1920s, my grandfather and his BIL owned a car dealership there. The depression hit and they realized it would net be able to support them both so they flipped a coin and one got $700 and a new car ( my grandfather) and the other kept the dealership.
They were both financially successful later in life and remained friends.
Also, my mom, God bless her, was born there.

I know…CSB

Sounds suspect. LA Hwy 1 is on the other side of the Red River through north La, so it wasn’t ever coming through Coushatta. US Hwys 71 and 84 run right through the middle of town.

Try a Bailey Burger at Bailey’s Sandwich Shop. Walk up burger stand on Front Street that’s been there 40 years at least.
