Yep. No idea if there is more to the investigation. You'd figure with that much in the bank you could withstand any financial stresses, but everyone has demons.

I had 2 cars pass me in NOLA East last weekend running at least 100. No license plates.

my coworker said he got passed on the ABB (westbound) this morning by a Cadillac that he estimated was in excess of 100 MPH. I heard the car go by while he was using his bluetooth. Said he was running a hair over 80 MPH and Caddy flew by like he was standing still.

They should pass legislation outlawing that type of driving.

Happens to me quite often on 10 between Nola and Baton Rouge. And it's rarely a nice expensive car that can handle speeds in excess of 100mph. It's often a 10 yr old Surburban or a Honda Accord.

Absolute idiots do 100mph in traffic on the interstate.

Yeah, but it takes the cop 5 minutes to finish his cheese fries and pull out from behind the Walmart he was getting ready to nap behind.

Hope not....I wouldn’t fit the profile with my Challenger widebody.

Ehh... 100 on the interstate isn't that fast. Most traffic is doing close to 80 so the difference is only 20 mph.

Crashes often occur from speed differences between cars, which are much greater than 20 mph, on your average street or highway.

How many crashes are happening on streets where the vehicles are at or in excess of 100 MPH.
You really don’t understand the difference in high speeds versus lower speeds?

Oh boy, lots to unpack here.

Simply: Yes. I understand.

I'd venture to say I've responded to and wrote more reports on crashes than you could imagine.

Speed difference KILLS:

-Sudden stop from hitting immovable object (tree, embankment, culvert, etc.)

-Veh. being T boned at intersection.

-Head on collison.

Etc.

Now lets compare to interstate:

-USUALLY between vehicles traveling same direction.

-Mostly free of obstacles.

-Designed for higher speeds.

In lieu of a rollover, crossing median or just pure in attentiveness (not seeing stopped traffic or a vehicle stopped on the shoulder), interstate crashes are vastly better than those on streets/highways.

All of which supports my original statement that 100 mph (don't try to throw in "in excess", that wasn't part of my original rebuttal) IS NOT THAT FAST on the INTERSTATE.

Quite the opposite, we should make no speed limits in low traffic areas on the interstate and teach drivers to get the frick out of the left lane unless they are overtaking someone. The autobahn is a great system and when I go home and drive it usually sends me into a fit of rage. Some old fricker in an F250 going 65 in the left lane.

Well, the LA legislature we looking at increasing fines, and using License Plate readers before and after you cross to get an estimated speed and then mail you a ticket on the ABB.

I don’t know if it passed or is still working it’s way though the sausage factory.
