yep, its like seat belts, after a few years writting tickets people started hooking up from habit and it became a normal thing you do.

i think most of us grew up never wearing them and still dont but they are out there stopping and writing tickets for it. saw a few boaters out there think they were 1-00% good and legal until green jeans asked why they werent wearing the kill switch as he wrote up the ticket. they almost got me a few times already but i was lucky to see others getting checked so i quickly hooked up

Yep, I still don't understand people running around without them.

I am not even sure where mine are. I use the kill switch every time I run though.

Buddy lost his two sons, simply went out without life jackets on.

Happens monthly around here, and almost every single time its someone without PFDs.

One of the easiest deaths to prevent.

I need to do better. I wear life jackets and use the kill switch on jet skis but I can't even tell when the last time I did on my boat. I was out yesterday in 20+ mph winds catching stripers and it really is dumb to not use the switch every time.

I would probably think differently, if I were around there.

adding that if you baws fish windy conditions the way I do, the best piece of gear is Amish Outfitters Buggy Bags.

A great company that started catering to guys fishing Lake Erie in big winds. Those bags will save your trolling motor on windy days and work great. I don't vouch for a lot of gear, but I swear by those. Mandatory for doing controlled drifts in wind. Frank is a great guy.

Might be time to invest on three bright new ones.

That’s why I switched to the inflatable ones. Even my camo inflatable has the bright arse green float. It’s hard to be missed.

FYI- make sure your ice chest is completely dry before throwing it in there and taking off down the road.

I go out by myself a lot, and that got me in the habit of wearing a life jacket connected to the kill switch when running. I almost fell in one time trying to unsnag a spinner bait. After that I switched to the self inflating ones and wear one full time now. I can't count the number of times I made it to a spot, shut off the engine, got up, forgot to unhook, and been smacked in just about every body part by the kill switch lanyard. When that happens, I usually leave it hooked to the jacket and stick the slack in my pocket, spent a few times wondering "WTF now" when the engine wouldn't start when I was ready to move. All in all, better than death.
