No capitalization? We pick and choose when we want to elevate a race vs when we want to downplay it?

To me rape would insinuate penetration or P in the V.

What is crime like in Hammond outside of the campus?

I’d consider the location that this poor girl was abducted to be completely safe at pretty much any time of the day or night. Sad to see this happen here.

Right off campus was a pretty nice area. Not sure it still is.

It still is. And that area is busy as hell, especially at 0800. I find it hard to believe no one saw this happen.

This doesn't even need to be stated anymore. We know.

They have what looks like a security cam pic of the vehicle in the article.

100%. I parked in that small lot right there everyday from 2016-2020. It's right outside the new science and technology building. I seriously could not imagine something like this happening right there, much less while students are are all around at 8 a.m. I talked to a few guys I know that are still there and they haven't heard anything

You mean the one where everyone finds a way to make themselves into a victim? Yes, I'd say you're right on track, just not in the way that you'd imagined.

Update:
They caught the guy who did this at my daughters apartment complex none the less.
My daughter called me earlier and said armed police have swarmed their complex. Looks like the guy surrounded without a fight. The cops told my daughter and roommate that this was the suspect who did this.
Hard to imagine a guy that would do something like this living a few 100 yards from where your only daughter lives while in college.

Seriously asking, what apartments? I live in downtown hammond and I agree with the people who said that area is usually stellar. We walk that area for exercise a few times a week and it’s always populated and a good area.
Hammond overall isn’t as bad as the rap it gets on here. Like every town, there are areas to avoid but overall, Hammond, has greatly improved over the last decade plus.

Not a nice one but seemed pretty safe.

Creekwood.

Apparently the cops gathered at the front right by my daughters apartment then went to back in the circle where the guy was.

I parked in that small lot on that corner today. I just left and there were multiple news crews on the corner.
